Morning Briefing

1. This is the Strategy. Now Do It.
Conservatives need to push the debt ceiling fight off the front burner to after Christmas.
Republican Leaders are begging us to merge
the continuing resolution fight and debt ceiling fight. They covet this
with all their mind and heart.
They
do not want a stand alone fight on Obamacare. They want to conflate it
with the debt ceiling so they can do a grand bargain and leave Obamacare
alone.
Consider Rep. Paul Ryan’s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. He wants a grand bargain and not once mentions Obamacare. Not once.
Friends, as I noted the other day, we lose everything if we merge the continuing resolution and debt ceiling fights.
What’s
more, if the debt ceiling gets pushed to just before Christmas, the GOP
will collapse in that fight just like they did with Obamacare in 2009. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. The Little Eichmanns of the Government Shutdown
If
anyone had any doubt about the vicious and petty character of Barack
Obama and his administration the past week should have put those doubts
to rest. Not even Nixon’s “enemies list” can compete with Obama. Nixon’s
list was focused on not inviting certain pustulent bags of crap, like
Daniel Schorr, to White House function. Obama and his minions have
effectively declared all Americans the enemy in an attempt to make the
impact of the government shutdown artificially painful. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Shame on Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. He Lied to Bill O’Reilly
Last week, reports surfaced that the Senate
GOP had a meeting in which Senators screamed at and berated Senators
Mike Lee and Ted Cruz. Senator Ron Johnson appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s
show to deny that anyone yelled or screamed at Senators Lee and Cruz in
that meeting.
Ron Johnson is a damn liar.
There was one, and only one, Senator screaming at the top of his lungs in that room — Senator Ron Johnson. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4. Take THAT America!
The
Obama administration is taking their ball and going home. In the wake
of the (sort of) government shut-down, Americans from sea to shining sea
are feeling the pinch. At least, we assume the sea is shining after the
(sort of shut-down) government moved to close it. Yes the pain of a
(sort of) closed government is being universally shared. With unattended
open-air monuments, giant canyons, mountains, lakes, forests, roads and
highways, and even critical websites boarded up and hid from view, the
(semi-) closed state of our government is more noticeable, more
annoying, and more finger pointy than ever before. And amid this
closedpocalypse, the heroic democrats are here to tell you that the
ouchies are all thanks to republicans taking you hostage with guns. Why,
just yesterday John Boehner himself took over a bank and demanded a bus
and nude photos of Bea Arthur. And we wouldn’t know about this evil
without the Obama administration cleverly turning off all the lights,
that the darkness might illuminate it. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
5. Obama’s Debt Ceiling Mendacity
Earlier
today, the ever melodramatic president suggested that it is
unprecedented for an opposing party in Congress to deny a request for a
clean debt ceiling increase. He
asserted that “nobody in the past has ever seriously threatened to
breach the debt ceiling until the last two years. and this is the credit
worthiness of the united states we’re talking about.”
Actually,
as Sean Davis noted, there have been a number of epic budget battles
over the debt ceiling dating back to President Eisenhower. Many of them resulted in some serious concessions by the sitting president. But what is more important is Obama’s amnesia from his own days in the Senate. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
