The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released its report on the economic impact of the Senate amnesty bill. (Read the full document here.) The CBO's findings are so bad that Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said on the Senate floor Tuesday:
"It's going to increase unemployment and it's going to pull down wages. That is exactly the wrong thing that ought to be happening at this time. How in the world can we justify passing a bill that hammers the American working man and woman that's out trying to feed a family?"
According to the CBO, enacting "The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act" would decrease wages until 2025, slightly raise unemployment through 2020, raise interest rates and (ironically) the bill "would probably increase the number of unauthorized residents.”
Wait! What? An immigration bill that actually brings in more illegal immigrants? Only in Obama's America.
And regarding claims that S. 744 will reduce America's $17 trillion deficit, the CBO says the bill will "have no significant net effect on federal budget deficits during the coming decade." Also, this legislation "would lower per capita GNP by .07 percent in 2023."
Supporters of the Senate Amnesty Bill point to CBO estimates that claim this legislation will have a more positive economic impact in years 11 through 20. But opponents argue that those benefits don't justify legalizing 11 million illegal immigrants now.
+ + "Now Is Definitely The Time!"
We heard from a Senate contact on Capitol Hill yesterday, who said that "now is definitely the time" to energize and mobilize grassroots Americans to oppose this bill. She also told Grassfire:
"I'm very nervous the bill could pass but it could also be stopped, I think. I understand though that people are tired!"
Conservative patriots must not "grow weary in well-doing." Now is definitely the time to make your voice heard!
