MARRIAGE WAS CREATED BY GOD, NOT MAN!

Marriage is an institution ordained by God to nurture mankind and rightly order procreation through the generations. The natural family is fundamental to our society’s very existence!

We have heard much about men “defining” marriage as the U.S. Supreme Court heard important cases on this crucially important subject this week.  At Liberty Counsel, we champion God’s gift of marriage as an institution that He defined as part of mankind’s very nature!  Please see my important message below – Mat.

Conservatives,

For two days this week, the United States Supreme Court heard arguments on reconstructing God’s natural order of marriage and the family.

Tuesday, the Court focused on Proposition 8, California’s State Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as being reserved for the union of one man and one woman.

Wednesday, the High Court heard the cases for and against the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the bipartisan law that affirmed natural marriage for federal purposes.

I have been asked many times this week how I think the Court will come down on both issues.  Liberty Counsel has been at the very forefront of affirming natural marriage in America and we have made scores of court appearances at every level of jurisdiction in defense of God’s plan for marriage and the family.

This week, I have expressed my opinions on these cases in many nationally-distributed media interviews and, of course, in Liberty Counsel’s many communications vehicles.  Here is my best answer on how the rulings will turn out:

Because of the many complex factors involved in reading the Supreme Court tea leaves, it is unwise to lend credence to predictions on how the Court might come down.  It is, however, always wise to pray for the Justices’ deliberations!

++Marriage is natural law – not just a legal document.

No matter how the Supreme Court rules, there are higher laws in effect for all us – God’s laws.

Marriage is not just an emotional bond between two people memorialized by a legal document.  It is an institution ordained of God to rightly order procreation and provide the best environment for the well-being of children. The natural family is fundamental to our very existence!

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (who soon after became Pope Benedict XVI) did a brilliant job of describing the natural law of marriage this way:

“The Church’s teaching on marriage and on the complementarity of the sexes reiterates a truth that is evident to right reason and recognized as such by all the major cultures of the world.

Marriage is not just any relationship between human beings. It was established by the Creator with its own nature, essential properties and purpose. No ideology can erase from the human spirit the certainty that marriage exists solely between a man and a woman.

This [natural truth] is confirmed by the divine Revelation in the Biblical accounts of creation (Genesis 1:27-28, 2:24). Christ elevated the marital union of a man and a woman to the dignity of a sacrament (see Matthew 19:3-12 and Mark 10:6-9).

There are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family. Marriage is holy, while homosexual acts go against the natural moral law.”

++Marriage cannot be “redefined” into something it isn’t!

A same-sex relationship simply cannot be a marriage. Marriage does not depend on a popularity poll. If marriage is redefined into something it cannot be, the marriage institution will be weakened, children and families will suffer, and religious freedom will be at risk.”

The natural family is fundamental to our very existence. This institution is a gift from our loving Creator.

++Liberty Counsel will never abandon our vigorous defense of natural marriage!

Last month, Liberty Counsel filed two extensive amicusbriefs with the Court on this pair of enormously significant marriage cases.

Liberty Counsel has been deeply involved in legal advocacy on both of these crucial cases for many years now. We’ve defended DOMA and the definition of marriage in almost 50 cases in state and federal courts. And our work is far from over, regardless of how the Court rules on these cases!

That’s why our intense legal advocacy for natural marriage is so important and why Liberty Counsel will never stop fighting for this vital institution.

Let me encourage you to make a special gift to help cover the growing cost of Liberty Counsel’s extensive litigation work and our principled stand in defense of natural marriage.

++Radical social engineers must not be allowed to prevail!

President Obama is being touted as America’s first “gay” president  and is now becoming a cult hero within the homosexual community. He made it clear in his recent State of the Union address that he intends to make the acceptance of “gay marriage” in our nation part of his second term agenda.

The fact is, Liberty Counsel cannot take on Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) and the powerful lobbyists and attorneys representing radical groups without your help!

We need your help now more than ever to stand against the legal bullies pushing the Left’s radical agenda.

Click here to give your best gift possible as, together, we stand for the God-ordained institution of marriage:

Thank you so much for your prayers and support as we deal with the rising tide of legislative and legal attacks on the God-given institution of marriage in America.

May God bless you!

P.S. Please pray for the Justices of the Supreme Court this week.  And pray for our nation!

We are at a pivotal point in our nation’s history. Nothing could do more to shape the future of America than the Supreme Court’s upcoming decisions on the definition of marriage.

We must work together to stop the onslaught of radical pro-homosexual activism. Please help us with a special gift today!
