National Debt passes $15,000,000,000,000.
It’s gone up over $48,000 per family since Obama took office, according to some reports. Got your share? ~Bob
OWS just needs to get organized. Get everybody in the same color shirts so they can tell their supporters from the 1%. Brown is nice; doesn’t show dirt or blood stains. Seriously, I hope those OWS children aren’t economics majors. Since Occupy Wall Street wants to forgive all debts, (wiping out savings and checking accounts in banks), if it looks like they will win, I’m going to max out my credit card. On ammo. OWS is the failure of American Education made manifest. If all of OWS’s demands were met, 50% to 80% of the American population would die of hunger, exposure or violence in the next five years. I think this is the start of the entitlement riots I’ve been predicting for some time, because government cannot possible redeem its trillions of dollars in pledges, as both parties bought votes for the past 30 years with borrowed money. We are facing a fiscal collapse, followed by a social and political collapse. Violence is coming, because these people care nothing about other’s rights, only their wants. ~Bob.
Must watch: Occupy Oakland
Violent anarchists, nihilists and socialists, coming after you soon. ~Bob.
Sessions presses Holder on Justice Kagan's involvement with health law
There is, I believe, no way to make a judge do the right thing. And no way she will let Obama down after he made this “wise Latina” a SCJ for life. Political debts must be paid, the public be damned. ~Bob. Excerpt: Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) on Tuesday pressed Attorney General Eric Holder for more information about Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan's involvement with the healthcare reform law after new emails emerged showing her rooting for the law when she was solicitor general.
Senators introduce "STOCK Act" to stop "insider trading" in Congress
Excerpt: A bill to stop "insider trading" in Congress is gaining momentum with two new Senate supporters. Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., today introduced the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2011, which would prohibit members or employees of Congress, as well as executive branch employees, from using nonpublic information obtained through their public service for investing or any attempt at personal financial gain. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., is introducing a slightly different version of the legislation on Wednesday.
Obama administration quietly bracing for debt supercommittee failure
Excerpt: White House officials are quietly bracing for “supercommittee” failure, with advisers privately saying they are pessimistic that the 12-member Congressional panel will find a way to cut $1.2 trillion from the deficit as required.
Businesses wary of supercommittee outcome
Excerpt: Businesses are getting nervous about Washington again. A congressional “supercommittee” tasked with finding at least $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions by Thanksgiving has made little apparent progress thus far, and could add a layer of uncertainty during the crucial holiday shopping period. Combined with continuing trouble in Europe and volatile financial markets, it is a confluence of risks at a time of already fragile confidence among businesspeople and consumers. The risks to the economy from the supercommittee appear to be less severe than those accompanying the standoff in late July and early August over raising the federal debt ceiling;
Dems criticize eviction of Occupy protesters
Excerpt: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s (I) decision to evict Occupy Wall Street protesters from a Lower Manhattan park is a blow to free speech, several House Democrats said. Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, warned that in preventing protesters from camping out in Zuccotti Park, the city has “effectively removed [the protesters’] ability to be there 24/7.” (Ringing defense of the Right to Defecate Where You Want. Including on these Congressmen’s desks, I suppose. Too bad the Tea Party is too classy to do so. ~Bob.)
Republican leaders preparing rank and file for deal on new tax revenues
Excerpt: House Republican leaders began preparing their members on Tuesday to accept a potential deficit deal that includes new tax revenues. The GOP co-chairman of the deficit supercommittee, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), briefed the House Republican Conference on the details of multiple offers that GOP members of the panel have made to their Democratic counterparts.
The Occupy movement: More trouble than change?
Excerpt: The movement began as a protest of major economic and political issues, but lately the most divisive issue has become the protests themselves. The Occupy Wall Street encampments that formed across the country to spotlight crimes committed on Wall Street have become rife with problems of their own. There are sanitation hazards and drug overdoses, even occasional deaths and sexual assaults.
Excerpt: One person who doesn't is Paul Krugman, editorial writer for The New York Times. We are experiencing an "extreme concentration of income," he writes, and this is "incompatible with real democracy." It's "oligarchy, American style," he complains. Did you know that every time you buy a ticket to see a Harry Potter movie you are contributing to extreme inequality of wealth? Did you know that you are undermining the foundations of our democracy? Did you know you are helping one more billionaire to get more than her fair share of our national income?
Health Exchange Subsidies Will Reduce Employer Health Plans
Excerpt: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) -- the new health reform law -- contains financial incentives for the states to establish health insurance exchanges where qualifying individuals and small businesses can purchase subsidized, individual health insurance, starting in 2014. The structure of the exchange subsidies will encourage low-income workers to congregate in companies that do not provide insurance and high-income employees to work for firms that do provide it, says Devon Herrick, a senior fellow with the National Center for Policy Analysis.
A Gold Rush of Subsidies in Clean Energy Search
Excerpt: The project is also a marvel in another, less obvious way: Taxpayers and ratepayers are providing subsidies worth almost as much as the entire $1.6 billion cost of the project. Similar subsidy packages have been given to 15 other solar- and wind-power electric plants since 2009. The government support — which includes loan guarantees, cash grants and contracts that require electric customers to pay higher rates — largely eliminated the risk to the private investors and almost guaranteed them large profits for years to come.
True Tax Reform: Improves the Economy, Does Not Raise Taxes
Excerpt: There is little dispute that the current federal income tax is in real need of an overhaul. The heart of tax reform is to achieve a stronger economy through the adoption of a more economically neutral tax system featuring much lower marginal tax rates. But current discussions of tax reform have been mistakenly caught in the debate over how to cut current and future budget deficits. Proponents of higher spending have sought to co-opt the language of tax reform, especially the renewed aversion to tax loopholes, to disguise their goal of raising taxes.
Secret Service says bullet hit White House
Excerpt: The Secret Service says a bullet hit an exterior window of the White House and was stopped by ballistic glass. An additional round of ammunition was found on the White House exterior. … U.S. Park Police have an arrest warrant for Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, who is believed to be connected to the earlier incident. He is described as a 21-year-old Hispanic man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair. (PRAY for OUR PRESIDENT! Why isn’t this the #1 story in the media? This face should be plastered everywhere. Déjà vu the 1960’s! Remember how a crazy Communist, Lee Harvey Oswald, assassinated President Kennedy? And “The Nation of Islam”, i.e. Louis Farrakhan killed Malcolm X because he left the “Nation” and disavowed racism? Mr. Farrakhan has our President as his #1 enemy since Obama backed the invasion of Libya and good friend, dictator Moammar Kadafi was killed. Our nation is reliving the same conditions of the 1960’s. “OWS” = ”Damn Vietnam” protesters? God help us folks. I hope I’m wrong. Gail)
Man arrested in White House shooting probe
Excerpt: Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, who was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police near Indiana, Pennsylvania, was allegedly involved in a shooting Friday night that may be responsible for two bullets found at the White House. (Do you think the gun was part of F and F??? –George.)
Worth Reading: Occupy vs. the LAPD
Excerpt: It seems that the “99 percent” label one so often hears doesn’t quite reflect the movement’s true scope, and that some larger segment of the population is growing weary of the ongoing garden parties taking place in public parks and other open spaces across the country. In Lower Manhattan, Occupiers are wearing out their welcome at those businesses that heretofore had tolerated or even abetted the protest. Being down for the cause is all well and good, but when the paying customers avoid your shop or restaurant out of fear of sharing space with the hygienically challenged cast of characters headquartered at Zucotti Park, well even the most socially conscious have to pay heed to the bottom line.
Border Patrol Union: Show evidence against border agent
Excerpt: The union that represents U.S. Border Patrol agents is challenging an effort by Texas prosecutors to block the release of information used to build a successful case against a Border Patrol agent convicted of wielding excessive force, saying the American public has a right to see the evidence.
Excerpt: I have been agnostic on the Republican primary so far, but the time for choosing has arrived. For the reasons set forth below, I believe that the primaries will come down to Mitt Romney versus Newt Gingrich. As such, the choice is not between Newt Gingrich and some hypothetical more perfect conservative candidate, as Newt’s most vocal critics would have us believe. I’m supporting Newt Gingrich as the most conservative Republican who is electable and most qualified for the position of President.
Obama: U.S. does not fear China
Excerpt: Announcing a new U.S. troop deployment in Australia, President Obama said Wednesday the move does not mean the United States fears China’s increasing militarization. “I think the notion that we fear China is mistaken,” Mr. Obama said at a press conference in the Australian capital of Canberra. “We welcome a rising, peaceful China.” (How about a rising China determined to build an unchallengeable military, so it can control all of Asia, including Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, Mr. President? Or do you still think other countries will behave as you hope because you are nice and bow to them? ~Bob.)
Letting others lead
Excerpt: Syrian mobs-for-rent are attacking embassies of countries that have turned against President Bashar Assad — with one glaring exception: The US embassy in Damascus was largely unmolested this week. Arab League foreign ministers are expected to vote today in Morocco to suspend Assad from their 22-member group. Jordan’s King Abdullah on Monday called on Assad to step aside. Turkey is threatening to cut energy supplies to Syria. France is leading a European Union sanctions drive. America? Yes, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued the expected boilerplate statements, but so far we’re largely letting others lead this fight — which is fast becoming one of the most important battles in the war for the Mideast’s soul.
Blame the politicians
Excerpt: In the weeks before the NYPD finally cleared Zuccotti Park, the Downtown Community Coalition formed to demand action. For some in the group, the last straw was the incessant drumming, which some call psychological abuse. For others, it was the defecating in bags and improper disposal of medical waste — the general public-health crisis caused by the protesters’ prolonged stay in the park. More than anything else, though, the reason for the Downtown Community Coalition’s existence is the complete failure of their elected officials to act on this very real attack on their quality of life.
American Islamists and Iranian Propaganda
Excerpt: Tune in to Press TV, the Iranian government's English-language broadcast outlet, and you will see reports of the pervasive evil represented by the United States. It seeks war. It fabricated an international report on Iran's nuclear weapons program. It leads an elaborate "Iranophobic" conspiracy aimed at invading Iran and "plundering its natural resources." Watch long enough and you'll also see a parade of American Muslim activists, all lamenting their problems with government policies and decrying the plight of life here for Muslims.
Capitalism Is Not Charity
No, Capitalism is Freedom. Freedom from want included. ~Bob. Excerpt: President Obama seems to believe that the only reason we still have chronically high unemployment and anemic economic growth is because American businesses are too stingy – whether it be in hiring or taxation. After all, the president has done everything he can do to get people back to work… It’s only right that the private sector now fulfills its moral obligation – at least that’s the way he sees it.
A Professor’s Hatred for Our ‘Killer’ Troops
Excerpt: Michael Avery, a professor of law at Suffolk University Law School, responded to an online solicitation for support for care packages for overseas servicemen by labeling them killers undeserving of sympathy. “I think it is shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings,” Avery professed in an email sent on the eve of the Marine Corps’ birthday and two days before Veterans Day.
Must see entire video. Chicago Teachers’ Union President Video
Dear God. ~Bob
These people have Nuke! Not wise to provoke them. Your tax dollars at work. ~Bob. Excerpt: Considered by many Pakistanis to be public enemy number one, the United States turned to the musical descendents of rap group Public Enemy in an attempt to counter its highly unpopular image in the South Asian nation. As part of its cultural diplomacy programme, the US embassy brought the FEW Collective, a hip hop troupe from Chicago to Islamabad on November 14 where they danced, rapped and recited poetry to a westernised, educated and elite audience of young Pakistanis. The group’s 10-day trip is sponsored by the US State Department as part of its American Festival of the Arts, which is a cultural programme designed to promote exchange between people of the two countries.
New Tunisian PM: "The liberation of Jerusalem starts here. I will be the sixth righteous caliph."
Excerpt: The English in this report is marginal, but the import is clear. The Righteous or Rightly Guided Caliphs were, according to Islamic tradition, the first four successors of Muhammad: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali Ibn Abi Talib. Then some add Hasan, Ali's son, or Umar II, who came slightly later. And Hamadi Jebali is apparently planning to be the sixth.
Ready Or Not, Here Come MACT And CSAPR
Excerpt: Congressional deadlock means two game-changing Environmental Protection Agency rules are poised to take effect unless a court stops them or the White House weighs in. The rules will cost electric utilities and their ratepayers billions. But the utility industry itself is split between those that have invested to lower their air pollution ahead of federal regulation and say stricter standards can be met, and those who remain highly coal-dependent and contend the EPA is forcing changes so fast it will endanger electric reliability. (Someone at AOL Energy news must’ve snuck this in without letting the bosses at HuffPo know. All of us watching the EPA’s gyrations have been saying this for nearly two years. Without Congressional action, the new rules take effect on 1 Jan 2012. It must be okay ‘cause it isn’t a tax, right? And, surely it will create a green job or two, right? So, more expensive electricity must be good for the economy, right? Is anyone else’s BS detector going off? I added emphasis. Ron P.)
US Anti-Capitalist Teach-In Leader: ‘We Have People Organizing Inside of the Military’ http://www.theblaze.com/stories/anti-capitalist-teach-in-leader-we-have-people-organizing-inside-of-the-military/
Excerpt: Over the weekend, Adam Kokesh (”Adam vs. the Man”) headed down to Occupy D.C.’s “Anti-Capitalist Teach-In,” where he captured some curious comments from participants. Among the bizarre statements to come from protesters was the notion that Occupiers may be organizing within the military in an effort to see a “revolution” unfold. “Rod,” a self-described member of the Progressive Labor Party, said that he and his compatriots have been encouraging others to “think in terms of building revolution against this whole system of capitalism.” He went on to say that the fight must be taken to industrial workers, the military, campuses — even churches. (When they start the revolution, they may be surprised at which side has most of the guns. ~Bob.)
New York Times: Police Clear Zuccotti Park: After an Earlier Misstep, a Minutely Planned Raid
Excerpt: Hundreds of police officers were involved, some of them wearing riot helmets. The overnight hours of Monday into Tuesday were chosen because Zuccotti Park would be at its emptiest. The operation was kept secret from all but a few high-ranking officers, with others initially being told that they were embarking on an exercise.
VIDEO: OWS Protester: 'In a Few Days, You're Going to See What a Molotov Cocktail Can Do To Macy's
Excerpt: Just in time for the Thanksgiving Day parade! The headlined quote comes at about a minute in, but there is plenty more of the sort of “non-violent” talk OWS has become known for leading up to this point. (Followed by seeing what a 99mm round can do to an asshole. Sorry. ~Bob.)
VIDEO: New Al Qaeda Leader speaks of "delicate," "human," "noble," "refined" Osama Bin Laden
Excerpt: In a new video, al Qaeda's new leader invites viewers to take a moment to remember the "delicate", "human side" of Osama bin Laden, the terror leader who gleefully claimed responsibility for the deaths of nearly 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001. Ayman al-Zawahiri, the al Qaeda deputy who slipped into the top spot at al Qaeda after bin Laden was taken out by a team of U.S. Navy SEALs in May, claims in the recently released video that he has been asked by "his brethren" to talk about his time with bin Laden and "shed light on the human side of Osama bin Laden -- his noble, refined side."
Hotair: Louisiana Sues Federal Government Over Illegal Aliens
Excerpt: We count illegal aliens in the census, and that is a good thing because we need to know just how many people are here illegally. But we should not count them for the purposes of apportioning Congressional districts. Because the federal government did just that, several states including Louisiana lost seats in the House.
Poverty in America? by Walter E. Williams
Excerpt: According to CBS News, "the number of people in the U.S. living in poverty in 2010 rose for the fourth year in a row, representing the largest number of Americans in poverty in the 52 years since such estimates have been published by the U.S. Census Bureau." MSNBC said, "The U.S. poverty rate remains among the highest in the developed world." Let's look at a few poverty facts.
Worth Reading: Morning Jay: Four Enduring Truths of American Elections
Excerpt: In light of this, I'd like to offer some advice for their consideration -- specifically, four enduring truths of American elections that conservatives and Republicans would do well to take heed of as they consider the candidates seeking their support. The Democrats ignored these truths in 2009 and 2010, and they paid the price in the 2010 midterms. If Republicans ignore them by choosing a bad nominee, they will pay a similar price next year, giving President Obama an opportunity for reelection despite a miserable economic climate.
Super PAC aims at toppling U.S. Sen. Scott Brown
A Brown defeat probably keeps Harry Reid running the senate. Then it’s game over. ~Bob. Excerpt: A new Bay State Super PAC comprised of unions and former Gov. Deval Patrick staffers is targeting U.S. Sen. Scott Brown -- unleashing two attack ads and a website dubbed RethinkBrown.com today. “As voters learn what Scott Brown’s record in Washington really looks like, it will become clear he’s not on the side of Massachusetts families,” said Liz Morningstar, senior strategist for the PAC and former Patrick senior aide. “Rethink seeks to show Massachusetts voters that what Scott Brown says he’ll do for people in our state is very different from the way he’s actually voting in Washington.”
Solyndra: Energy Dept. pushed firm to keep layoffs quiet until after midterms
Excerpt: The Obama administration, which gave the solar company Solyndra a half-billion-dollar loan to help create jobs, asked the company to delay announcing it would lay off workers until after the hotly contested November 2010 midterm elections that imperiled Democratic control of Congress, newly released e-mails show. The announcement could have been politically damaging because President Obama and others in the administration had held up Solyndra as a poster child of its clean-energy initiative, saying the company’s new factory, built with the help of stimulus money, could create 1,000 jobs. Six months before the midterm elections, Obama visited Solyndra’s California plant to praise its success, even though outside auditors had questioned whether the operation might collapse in debt. (The administration says “the email was cherry-picked” by Republicans. Is that like saying the cop investigating a robbery “cherry-picks” the perpetrator’s fingerprints? Ron P.)
Daniel Hannan, Telegraph UK: 'We are witnessing the great success of the Euro.' - Mario Monti
Excerpt: This is not some decade-old remark; he made it just seven weeks ago. Shortly afterwards, he was eased in to Berlusconi's job. You see how it works?
James Delingpole, Telegraph UK: Only a totalitarian New World Order can save us now says Naomi Klein
Excerpt: No Logo author Naomi Klein has a solution to climate change and it goes like this: punitive taxation; massive wealth re-distribution; the abolition of free trade and free markets; a state-enforced end to the "cult of shopping"; the whole to be supervised by a New World Order of selfless illuminati (who presumably resemble Naomi Klein). If it weren't so scary it would almost be funny, the way the leftie Canadian activist on the basis of no evidence whatsoever declares that the time has come to strip the human race of all its hard-won freedoms in order to save the planet from a non-existent problem.
Ed West, Telegraph UK: Positive Discrimination--a good way for the elite to keep out the poor
Excerpt: Nieli’s also found that membership of such rural-based clubs as Future Farmers of America or Junior ROTC is “associated with 60 or 65 percent lower odds on admissions”. Also excluded, he wrote, are “born-again Christians from the Bible belt, students from Appalachia and other rural and small-town areas, people who have served in the U.S. military, those who have grown up on farms or ranches, Mormons, Pentecostals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, lower- and middle-class Catholics, working class ‘white ethnics', social and political conservatives, wheelchair users, married students, married students with children or older students just starting into college and raising children.” “Students in these categories,” writes Nieli, “are often very rare at the most competitive colleges, especially the Ivy League.”
Telegraph UK: What is the Schedule for the Return of Democracy?
Excerpt: Now that Mario Monti has appointed himself Finance Minister of Italy as well as being Prime Minister (presumably because he couldn't find anyone he trusted for the job other than himself), how about head of the army and the police as well? Now that virtually all constitutional bets are off, what exactly is there to stop one man choosing to occupy all the most powerful governmental posts in that country? And another question: what precisely are the mechanisms by which this temporary suspension of democracy will be brought to an end?
New York Times: To Increase Jobs, Increase Economic Freedom
Excerpt: Business is not a zero-sum game struggling over a fixed pie. Instead it grows and makes the total pie larger, creating value for all of its major stakeholders, including employees and communities.
Project Syndicate: America in the Asian Century
Excerpt: In order to reinvent itself, if not to manage its relative international decline, America must proceed toward a rebalancing of its domestic and international priorities. In the immediate aftermath of World War I, a triumphant America withdrew from global responsibility, with tragic consequences for the balance of power in a Europe that was left to face its inner demons alone. In the aftermath of World War II, by contrast, the US managed successfully to contain Soviet ambitions.
National Journal: Obama's Choice: Ohio or Virginia?
Excerpt: The president’s advisers are stuck between pursuing two distinctly different strategies and two very different kinds of voters, each of which is crucial to his reelection. The first is an “Ohio strategy,” which means adopting an aggressively populist message to win back blue-collar voters in Rust Belt states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The second is a “Virginia strategy,” which would emphasize a more centrist message aimed at upscale white-collar professionals and college-educated suburbanites.
Mark Steyn on the UK's House of Commons: A Moat too Far
Excerpt: Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams and four of his fellow Irish republican members refuse to take their seats in the House [of Commons] because they decline to take their oath of allegiance to a Queen they don't recognize. Nevertheless, they've managed to claim over half a million pounds in expenses. Isn't that the perfect job?
White teenage mother stabbed to death and dumped in canal 'after her married Asian lover rejected her child' - Daily Mail UK
Didn’t get the memo. ~Bob. Excerpt: Laura, fed up with all the secrecy, went to tell the families of both men of her affairs with their sons. Afterwards Hussain and Asghar allegedly sent a flurry of texts to one another. In the language used by terrorists in the 'Four Lions' film Asghar is said to have sent a text to Hussain the day before Laura died which read: 'I'm gonna send that kaffir b**** straight to hell.'
New York Post: Why Bloomberg Finally Moved Against OWS Protesters: Health and Headlines
Excerpt: Mayor Bloomberg finally decided to wipe Zuccotti Park clean after learning about a rancid outbreak of scabies, lice and lung ailments among protesters — and most importantly because his reputation was taking a beating, insiders told The Post. “He knew he was being perceived as being very weak,” said a source who was briefed on Bloomberg’s decision to finally break down the Occupy Wall Street encampment. Hizzoner hit his breaking point after he was contrasted to the liberal mayors of Oakland and Denver — who quickly cracked down on OWS protesters — and critics compared his inaction to the failings of former Mayor David Dinkins. (Just when they were having fun with lice, he spoils it by shutting them down. Go figure. ~Bob.)
Europe a Dagger Pointed at Obama's Re-election
Excerpt: The eurozone is falling into recession, with the region’s economy probably shrinking both this quarter and next. IHS Global Insight sees no growth at all for 2012 as a whole. This stagnation dramatically raises the odds of a messy default by Greece with financial contagion spreading to the rest of the eurozone and then America. (Huh. It’s a dagger pointed at my retirement fund! ~Bob.)
'Britain is a white mono-culture and our schools should focus on our own history' - Historian David Starkey, Daily Mail UK
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2061809/David-Starkey-row-British-history.html#ixzz1du4RWtmx
Excerpt: David Starkey has provoked more controversy by claiming that most of Britain is a ‘mono-culture’ and that immigrants should assimilate. The TV historian rejected claims by other academics that it is a diverse country, describing it as 'absolutely and unmitigatingly white' outside of London. His outburst comes three months after he blamed ‘black culture’ for the summer riots and claimed that parts of Enoch Powell's 'rivers of blood' speech had been right.
Toilet troubles add to sailors' deployment stress on carrier
Need OWS to teach them it’s okay to go anywhere. ~Bob. Excerpt: It may seem like a trivial inconvenience in the scheme of things, but it's become routine enough that some sailors aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush say it's affecting their morale, their health and their job performance: Since the ship left for its maiden combat deployment in May, its toilet system has suffered outages so frequently that crew members sometimes can't find a single working commode.
In Debates, Newt Gingrich’s Real Target Is Obama: A Newt vs. Barack matchup tantalizes Republicans.
Excerpt: He’s baaack! Former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is back in the saddle after falling off his horse at the starting line. At least according to one poll (Public Policy Polling), Gingrich is actually the GOP frontrunner. … But the core of his strategy has been to plant a question in the minds of Republican voters. The question he wants them to ask is, “Whom would you most like to see debate Barack Obama?”
U.S. boosts estimate of auto bailout losses to $23.6B
Excerpt: The Treasury Department dramatically boosted its estimate of losses from its $85 billion auto industry bailout by more than $9 billion in the face of General Motors Co.'s steep stock decline. In its monthly report to Congress, the Treasury Department now says it expects to lose $23.6 billion, up from its previous estimate of $14.33 billion. The Treasury now pegs the cost of the bailout of GM, Chrysler Group LLC and the auto finance companies at $79.6 billion. It no longer includes $5 billion it set aside to guarantee payments to auto suppliers in 2009. (They’re not worried, though. Because it’s not their money. It’s your grandkids money. ~Bob.)
Dozens Of Hypodermic Needles Found Among Trash Removed From Zuccotti Park
Guess OWS was giving out free flu shots, huh. ~Bob.
