AZ DEPUTY LIKENS U.S.-MEXICO BORDER TO WAR ZONE
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Steve Henry likened the U.S.-Mexico border to a warzone situation similar to those in Afghanistan or Iraq saying that nearly everyone encountered is armed. Sheriffs from around the country formed a discussion panel hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies and the House Immigration Reform Caucus during which many of them blamed Obama’s lax enforcement of border and immigration laws for the problems in their communities. Henry, referring to drug traffickers, said sheriffs “have terrorists in our own backyard” because of the administration’s failure to crackdown. The meeting came just one week after Napolitano said the notion that the border is out of control is a myth.
