Until now, we've mostly stayed away from the debate surrounding the protesters in the "Occupy Together" movement that is popping up in cities across America, but today we have to weigh in on this issue, because these protesters have attacked our troops!
The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon near Occupy Boston protesters. The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her. Now, the Coast Guard is warning all staff working on Atlantic Avenue to avoid those protesters while in uniform. - WFXT Fox-25 Boston, Mass |
It's time to stop pretending that these protesters are ANYTHING BUT the same loony lefties that we were used to seeing every weekend protesting against President Bush, attacking our military and attacking the war inAfghanistan and Iraq. They are the same people with the same agenda!
Here in Sacramento, where our headquarters is located, the protesters of Occupy Sacramento have holed up in a downtown park, but walking through last Saturday, we could easily see signs reminiscent of the same anti-war protests we remember from the streets of Berkeley years ago. Anti-military and anti-American they seek to bring about their perverted view of 'social justice' by tearing down the free marketplace that has made America strong and kept our freedoms secure.
It's time we got serious and addressed these foolish miscreants. They've crossed the line and gone too far, attacking our troops like this. Please join us in opposing their radical movement which is now showing it's true anti-American colors.
Don't forget, our campaign to support military working dogs continues on!
Send a care package to a dog-handling soldier and his K-9 friend.
Just today, MAF had an interview with TAILS pet magazine, who will feature MAF's efforts in an upcoming issue of their magazine. This is great exposure and it's proof that new communities of supporters are ready to help our troops and the dogs they rely on!
Did you know that there are over 2,700 military working dogs currently serving?
Dogs are trained at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Suitable dogs go through a rigorous 90 days training program which trains the animals in how to recognize and detect the explosive materials used in IEDs, how to attack and take down the enemy when threatened, and how to operate in a war zone where the sounds of battle and unpredictable nature can be very confusing for an untrained dog.
Dogs are selected for the program based on their sense of smell, speed, endurance, courage, intelligence and adaptability to the harsh desert environment.
The top breeds that possess these qualities are German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and the Belgian Malinois. However, other breeds such as Golden Retriever, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Bull Mastiffs, Collies, Briards, and many others have been used successfully.
It's exciting that our efforts to support these military dogs has gotten attention and is gaining steam, but we still need your help and donations now!
Please sponsor a care package that will help out a military working dog and his handler!
