Allen West Roasts Obama

Janeane Garofalo: Hey, let’s make Weiner mayor of New York
Excerpt: Yeah, why not? He’s completely untrustworthy, crippled by tragically poor judgment, willing to lie to an almost pathological extent to cover up his transgressions, and fully prepared to smear his political enemies if he thinks he can profit from it. He’s narcissistic, nasty, and yet somehow so insecure that showing him idle flattery on Twitter might earn you a photo of his nob. Oh, and by his own admission, he’s apparently unfit for work in the private sector. So then: Why not let him run the country’s biggest city? More power, not less. Because he is, after all, a fightin’ liberal, which clearly impresses sophisticated progressive Janeane Garofalo. He fights. He never really wins or achieves much by doing so — his weakness as a legislator is one of the reasons Democrats have been so willing to run him over — but he hates those wingnuts and isn’t shy about saying so, which is reason enough to let him govern America’s financial nerve center. Skip ahead to 3:00 and drink this in, bearing in mind that she’s hardly alone in her Weiner admiration, even now, among the lefty base. (Personally, I hope he stays in Congress. From NY, he might well be replaced by an unwounded, competent liberal. ~Bob.)

Mark Steyn: High Function Junction
Excerpt: In what bizarro universe can even Alec Baldwin type the words “high functioning men like Weiner”? He’s a minor elected official. Thinking of the governing class as “high functioning men” is a big part of what’s got us into the mess we’re in.

Politically Correct Washington State Supreme Court Overturns Murder Conviction
Excerpt: In 2007, Kevin L. Monday Jr. was convicted for the murder of Francisco Green and received 64 years in prison. The incident was caught on a 3-minute video recording shot by a street performer, and the footage clearly shows Monday coolly and calculatingly firing 11 shots at Green on a crowded Seattle, Washington, street corner. Thus, despite the reluctance of witnesses to testify, it was an open-and-shut case. But now the Washington Supreme Court, in an 8-1 ruling, has overturned the conviction and a lower court that upheld it -- thus forcing a retrial -- claiming that the prosecutor used "racist" arguments.

Vote to end ethanol subsidies revives Coburn-Norquist tax revenue battle
Excerpt: The back-and-forth between Sen. Tom Coburn and Grover Norquist over tax subsidies for ethanol – and, more broadly, the need for new tax revenue – is heating up once more. Late this week, Coburn successfully pushed for a Tuesday vote on a measure to cut subsidies for ethanol, a proposal that the Oklahoma Republican and Norquist, the anti-tax crusader, feuded over earlier this year.

Mark Steyn: Default, dear Brutus, is not in our stars...
Excerpt: America has a looming rendezvous with destiny. You can’t tax your way out of it, you can’t inflate your way out of it, you can’t quantitively ease your way out of it. The only door that leads anywhere is the one marked “Massive Government Cuts”. There is not enough money on the planet for what the Permanent Governing Class is doing. If Americans decline to grasp that central truth, this country will die.

Worth Reading: Mark Steyn: It's All Bumps, No Road in Obamaville
Excerpt: Obama was in Toledo to "celebrate" the sale of the government's remaining stake in Chrysler to Fiat. That's "Fiat" as in the Italian car manufacturer rather than "an authoritative or arbitrary decree (from the Latin 'let it be done')," which would be almost too perfect a name for an Obamafied automobile. The Treasury crowed that Fiat had agreed to pay a whopping $560 million for the government's Chrysler shares. Wow! 560 million smackeroos! If you laid them out end to end, they're equivalent to what the federal government borrows every three hours. That's some windfall! In the time it takes to fly Obama to Toledo to boast about it, he'd already blown through the Italians' check.

In a world of political emails, why wait for the real thing
Funny Kass column. ~Bob

My letter in the Sunday Chicago Tribune
Roving gangs: The roving gangs of thugs beating and robbing people are a symptom of the continuing breakdown of our society and culture. There is a cheap and simple short-term solution: concealed carry. A few dead thugs and others would think twice before attacking a citizen who might be armed. Unfortunately, Illinois and the political thugs who run it are never on the side of the decent people. — Robert A. Hall, Des Plaines

What Religious Freedom Means in Vietnam
Excerpt: For many Vietnam veterans, Memorial Day was for remembering not only those Americans who died in the Vietnam War, but also our counterparts -- the Vietnamese, Laotians, and Cambodians who died fighting for freedom, and for all who still suffer persecution under the brutal communist regimes of those countries. It seemed that Vietnam's wave of human rights violations and religious persecution might have peaked with the arrest and detention of over 1,500 activists for democracy, human rights, and religious freedom prior to the nation's 11th Congress of the Communist Party, but the brutal communist regime may have outdone itself with last month's reported slaughter of over 75 ethnic Hmong Christians. Hundreds more were wounded and/or arrested and taken to undisclosed locations. An estimated 9,000 Hmong, mainly Catholics and Protestant Christians, gathered in the Muong Nhe district in North Vietnam's Dien Bien province on May 1 to honor the beatification of Pope John Paul II. According to Catholic sources, the late "Polish Pope," who had opposed both fascist Nazis forces and communist totalitarianism, is a source of inspiration to many Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, and Hmong Christian believers due to the courageous moral conduct of his life and his powerful call to "be not afraid" in challenging social injustice and Stalinist-type regimes around the world.

Program helps enforce laws
Excerpt: The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office has numerous convicted illegal immigrants in its custody, all of whom cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars to house. As sheriff of Worcester County, my highest priority is the safety of our citizens. Gov. Deval Patrick’s recent decision to withdraw from the Secure Communities Act, a federal program designed to identify and deport illegal immigrants who have been arrested, will hinder rather than support law enforcement efforts to keep our communities safe. I recently met with officials of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to discuss illegal immigration and programs such as the Secure Communities Act that are designed to provide enhanced tools to law enforcement agencies. The Worcester County House of Corrections houses dozens of criminal aliens. We should utilize every tool available to expedite the process of possible deportation of such individuals.

Cuomo’s illegal pander
Politicians are pandering on this issue, and the spending issue and the jihad issue for short term gain, but are destroying our cultural and freedoms. ~Bob. Excerpt: In a solid first half-year in office, Gov. Cuomo has largely avoided cheap political pandering. Alas, a troubling recent decision breaks that admirable run. Earlier this month, Cuomo bowed to special-interest pressure and “suspended” New York’s participation in Secure Communities, a federal database that identifies criminal suspects in custody who may be illegal aliens. Cuomo cited “concerns about the implementation of the program as well as its impact on families, immigrant communities and law enforcement.” Secure Communities allows localities to fingerprint arrested individuals and forward the data to Immigration and Customs Enforcement to see if the individual is in the country illegally.

Obama Will Spend More on Welfare in the Next Year Than Bush Spent on Entire Iraq War, Study Reveals
Excerpt: As a candidate for president, Barack Obama decried the financial toll that the Iraq war was taking on the economy, but Obama’s proposed spending on welfare through 2010 will eclipse Bush’s war spending by more than $260 billion. “Because of the Bush-McCain policies, our debt has ballooned,” then-Sen Barack Obama told a Charleston, W.V., crowd in March 2008. “This is creating problems in our fragile economy. And that kind of debt also places an unfair burden on our children and grandchildren, who will have to repay it.”

Somali minister Abdi Shakur Sheikh Hassan killed by niece
One thing you have to say for members of "The Religion of Peace." They kill each other a lot more often than they kill us kuffer. ~Bob. Excerpt: Somali Interior Minister Abdi Shakur Sheikh Hassan has been killed in a suicide attack at his home in the capital, Mogadishu. Officials say the bomber was his own teenage niece, who had joined the Islamist militant group al-Shabab. The group said it carried out the attack and said more would follow.

Punjab: acquittal for 70 Muslim extremists on trial for the Gojra massacre
http://www.asianews.it/news-en/Punjab:-acquittal-for-70-Muslim-extremists-on-trial-for-the-Gojra-massacre-21805.html
Excerpt: Pakistan’s fundamentalists are rejoicing following the acquittal verdict. The country’s Christian minority is “under shock” because, this time as well, the massacre of innocent victims done in the name of the infamous blasphemy law will go unpunished. The justice system also shows its powerlessness vis-à-vis extremists who can carry out heinous crimes with total impunity, whilst the government remains silent. Meanwhile, a Muslim religious leader publicly says that Christians “deserve” to be murdered. A Pakistani anti-terrorism court acquitted 70 people who, in various roles, were involved in the Gojra massacre of August 2009 (see Fareed Khan, “Eight Christians burned alive in Punjab,” in AsiaNews, 2 August 2009). The anti-Christian violence broke out following blasphemy allegations. During a wedding, a group of Christians supposedly burnt pages of the Qur‘an, a pretext used to strike at the religious minority.

What Kind of a Country Do You Want?
Excerpt: President Obama, I believe, sees himself as the noble Robin. Certainly, his tax-the-rich mantra and health care giveaways demonstrate a strong desire to redistribute income from the affluent to the poor in America. How is that playing in Peoria? A new Gallup poll tells us. The question was simple: "Do you think our government should or should not redistribute wealth by heavy taxes on the rich?" Most Americans said no. Forty-nine percent do not support Obama's vision, including 69 percent of Republicans and 53 percent of independents. But 47 percent of Americans do want to be shown the money, including a whopping 71 percent of Democrats.

Dem leaders call for Weiner to resign as he seeks 'professional treatment'
Excerpt: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and two other leaders of the Democratic Party on Saturday called on Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) to resign, shattering any semblance of party support for the embattled congressman, who is requesting a "leave of absence" from the House. (Celebrity Scandal Game Plan: Step one--Deny it happened. Step Two--Admit it happened and that you lied, beg forgiveness of your family, the voters, etc. Step Three--Go into rehab and hope another big story comes along. Step Four--Resign. Bill Clinton and David Vitter held at Step Two. We shall see. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: If Texas Gov. Rick Perry is “seriously considering running for president,” as my Examiner colleague Phil Klein reported, he has a ready-made campaign issue that could be his ace in the hole. “Since the recovery began, 38 percent of all the jobs created in American have been created in the State of Texas,” Dallas Federal Reserve president Richard Fisher told CNBC’s “The Squawk Reserve” Tuesday. “My district has more employment now than before the crisis began,” Fisher added. Imagine a one-theme presidential campaign based on the simple fact that while President Obama was out there destroying American jobs by the millions, Perry was busy creating them in Texas.

City Government demands all keys to properties belonging to Cedar Falls residents.
Unbelievable. ~Bob.
