Update on Thomas Perez nomination: Late last week, Republican demands to hold hearings on Thomas Perez’s controversial dealings have prompted the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee to table the vote on Perez’s nomination as Secretary of Labor until May 8th. I believe that our pressure on senators helped move them to fully question Perez’s dealings and his misguided nomination to be Secretary of Labor. Five House Republican committee leaders just released a report citing President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the failure to respond to the Benghazi attacks and the subsequent cover-up to shield the State Department from being faulted.
Yet, many urgent questions remain unanswered.
