A federal lawsuit was filed today against the Michigan Department of Corrections, alleging several Muslim inmates aren't getting enough "nutritional" food during the month-long fast of Ramadan and are being forced to eat foods that violate their religious beliefs.

According to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, the state's "Ramadan Bagged Meal" contains about 1,100-1,400 calories, which is roughly less than half the amount of calories that the other inmates get on any given day. Under state prison policy, all inmate meals total 2,600 to 2,900 calories a day.

As you know, one of the top priorities of the National Right to Work Foundation is to defend Right to Work laws in court from bogus legal attacks.

That's why Foundation attorneys, on behalf of four Michigan workers, went on the legal offensive last week.

You see, union lawyers have asked the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to overturn the popular Right to Work law on the grounds that it is "pre-empted" by federal law.

Union-label lawyers' crazy argument ignores Section 14(b) of the Taft-Hartley Act that specifically calls for state Right to Work laws -- even though Big Labor's top priority has long been repeal of 14(b).

MICHIGAN - STAND UP TO UNIONS! STAND UP TO TYRANNY!

Dear Conservatives, 

Freedom is on the march in Michigan.

On Thursday, the Michigan Senate voted to pass both Private Sector and Public Sector Right to Work laws, and a final vote is set for Tuesday in the House.

While no vote can be taken for granted, the Governor announced that if Right to Work reaches his desk, he will sign it and make free choice for workers the law of the land in Michigan.

This is BIG NEWS!

Michigan has long been a stronghold of forced unionism, and a posterchild for the horrors of unchecked union-boss power.

And Big Labor's reaction has been predictably ugly: Storming the legislature. Shoving Right to Work supporters. Cutting down pro-Right to Work signs.

And the goon squads are just getting started.

MICHIGAN - VOTE NO ON PROPOSAL 2 - NO, NO, NO!

Conservatives, 

Over the past several years, you and I have witnessed assaults by government worker unions on reform-minded state lawmakers in Wisconsin and Ohio. 

Reformers with the courage to put taxpayers above Big Labor's entitlements and sweetheart deals they've enjoyed at our expense for generations found themselves under siege as labor leaders lashed out in anger. 

Thanks to concerned Americans like you, opponents of forced unionism prevailed. 

But the Big Labor bosses are back with a new strategy - a strategy with the potential to do far more damage than a single recall election ever could. 

And they've picked Michigan as their target. 

You see, in Michigan - the proverbial home of the labor movement - Governor Rick Snyder and a conservative majority in the state legislature passed a series of reforms over the last two years that have turned the state's economy around after languishing for a decade with the nation's highest unemployment rate. 

And how did government employee union bosses respond? 

By bankrolling "Proposal 2" - a deceptive ballot proposal that would change the state's constitution to allow union contracts to trump state law.

MICHIGAN - KERRY BENTIVOLIO FOR U.S. SENATE - SAVE AMERICA FROM TYRANNY

Dear CONSERVATIVES, 

Every up-and-coming new politician will tell you he is guided by his convictions. 

Most of them even believe it. 

But I'll tell you, once they arrive in Washington and discover how things "really work" here, often they have difficulty standing up for their core beliefs.  Compromise is seductive. 

Some stand strong, but many disappoint. 

It is rare, then, that I really get excited about a new candidate running for U.S. Congress, even one running as a constitutional conservative. 

With Kerry Bentivolio, however, two things tell me that he is one to watch, and one I've been happy to support: 

First, the extraordinary circumstances through which Kerry came to be the Republican nominee in his race.  Five months ago, Kerry was running a race everybody thought was impossible. 

He was running to stand for a message, not just to be elected.

...They will be voting for a man who literally signed the death warrants of pre-born babies at $50 each (falsely claiming he had no choice) 3 YEARS AFTER his alleged "pro-life conversion" making him the first governor to ever sign tax-payer funded elective surgical abortions (at any stage including late-term/partial birth) into law the unconstitutional and immoral law known as Romneycare which was endorsed by Planned Parenthood, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama....
