31 House Republicans are reiterating their threat to block any legislation supported by GOP senators who vote in favor of a huge $1.7 trillion spending measure this week.
The House Republicans, led by Texas Representative Chip Roy, claim that the threat is real in a letter delivered on Wednesday to Senate Republicans.
The GOP-controlled House will only be able to lose a few votes on any piece of legislation before having to rely on Democrats to achieve passage, thus their warning could have significant effects for the following year.
The GOP's candidate for speaker, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, swiftly endorsed the strategy.
