On Thursday, I sent a letter to Francis Suarez, Mayor of the City of Miami and President of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM), regarding the Chinese Communist Party’s efforts to gain influence over local officials. I urged him to raise the issue of CCP espionage and influence operations at the USCM’s upcoming Annual Meeting in June. Read more here

On Wednesday, I released a statement after voting not to advance Ms. Kate Elizabeth Heinzelman out of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Heinzelman, a Biden Administration nominee who has done work for Shanghai-based pharmaceutical company Wu Xi App Tec Co, is nominated to be General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency. On Monday, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and I sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Acting Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Himamauli Das regarding the delayed implementation of my Corporate Transparency Act , which was signed into law in 2020. Legislation Introduced

  • On Monday, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and I  introduced the Conscience Objections to Negligent State COVID-19 Inoculation Edicts Need Constitutional Enforcement Act . The bill would extend Religious Freedom Restoration Act -like protections to individuals with religious objections to state and local COVID-19 vaccine mandates, providing relief to Americans who have lost their jobs or face losing their jobs because of their sincerely held religious beliefs.   • On Tuesday, Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and I introduced the International Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 . The bill would reauthorize and enhance critical programming, policy, and funding essential to the United States’ efforts to combat human trafficking across the world. Read more here .

  • On Tuesday, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and I introduced the Space National Guard Establishment Act . The bill would create a Space National Guard that would place Air National Guard members, conducting U.S. Space Force missions, under the Space Force command structure. Read more here 

  • On Tuesday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and I introduced the Allowing Military Exemptions, Recognizing Individual Concerns About New Shots (AMERICANS) Act of 2022 . The legislation would counter the Biden Administration’s efforts to coerce and punish active duty service members who decline the COVID-19 vaccine, and introduce accountability measures in response to U.S. Department of Defense efforts to undermine transparency.   • On Thursday, Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) and I introduced the Give Kids a Chance Act. The bill would ensure that children with cancer can participate in not only single-drug trials, but also combination therapy trials. It would also require the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to analyze the collection of preclinical data and better utilize existing clinical data to determine potential pediatric uses of drugs.   • On Thursday Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) introduced the North Korean Human Rights Reauthorization Act of 2022 . The bill would reauthorize the North Korean Human Rights Act of 2004 for five years past its expiration in September 2022. Read more here
