Dear Friend,  Hurricane Elsa came through Florida, but you all were determined not to let her rain on our parade. It’s encouraging to see so many good news stories come out of our district. Please keep them coming! Here are a few of my favorites from the past week --  The Tallahassee Fire Department's Search and Rescue Team, also known as Florida Task Force 7, returned from their week-long deployment to the Surfside condo collapse site on Monday. The team received a true hero’s welcome from family and friends when they arrived in Tallahassee. Twenty-seven Tallahassee firefighters and one structural engineer worked from noon to midnight for seven days attempting to locate those who are still missing. Thank you, Florida Task Force 7! We’re happy to have you home! Read more here. This past week, Trenton FFA members competed in multiple events at the 93rd Florida FFA State Convention. The team placed top six in the state. While competing, other members learned valuable leadership tools in the member workshops, including how to work effectively as a team and individually. Congratulations on this exceptional accomplishment! We’re all very proud of you! Read more here. The VFW Post 10555, American Legion Post 402, and local officials came together in Panama City Beach for an Independence Day celebration: The Happy Birthday USA ceremony. J.R. Arnold JROTC presented the colors at the beginning of the ceremony and VFW Post Commander, Mary Lemburg, said it’s important to celebrate with the younger generation because they are future patriots. I cannot think of a better way to foster patriotism in the next generation. Read more here.
