The First take: We don't have a problem with the country recognizing the day Texas learned of the Emancipation Proclamation (two and a half years after Lincoln announced it). We're just wondering why it was called "Juneteenth National Independence Day Act." Why not the "Emancipation Day Act?" After all, America's actual Independence Day (July 4th) is very close on the calendar.
The First take: Dr. Ronnie Jackson (now a Congressman representing a district in Texas) served in the White House under both President Obama and President Trump. We would like to see his suggested examination of the president's mental faculties happen soon.
The First take: Need a Friday boost? Watch this clip. We are starting to feel more positive about the pushback against Critical Race Theory. We have not yet achieved the critical mass needed to stop CRT. But, we're getting there.
The First take: Based on this latest PC madness, Daniel Day Lewis would have been precluded from his Oscar-winning role in "My Left Foot," only a stuttering person could play the lead role in "The King's Speech," and the troops storming the beaches of Normandy would have to be 50% female. This woke insanity must end.
