Senator Rick Scott announced that he will donate his second quarter Senate salary to St. Matthew’s House in Southwest Florida. St. Matthew’s House is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty, which has distributed thousands of meals to families amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Learn more about St. Matthew’s House HERE.

Senator Rick Scott said, “St. Matthew’s House has been a staple in serving the Southwest Florida community for decades, and has gone above and beyond to provide thousands of meals to families amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Every day, this incredible organization and its selfless volunteers dedicate their time and resources to provide compassion, care and support to fellow Floridians in need. St. Matthew’s House is a terrific example of how our nation has come together to help each other through this pandemic, and I’m proud to support their service to our community.” Read more HERE
Senator Rick Scott released the following statement after reports from the Miami Herald that Cuba has made a profit of over $70 million dollars from its “medical missions” in Algeria, and has yet to pay any of the physicians in the program.

Senator Rick Scott said, “This is the latest example of Cuba actively engaging in human trafficking with their sham ‘medical program.’ This is not about helping anyone. Cuba uses this program as a way to funnel money to their regime and rarely pays a living wage to the physicians they force to work in other countries. Cuba is using the Coronavirus pandemic for profit at the expense of these hardworking physicians. We cannot allow it. Any country that requests medical assistance from Cuba is aiding their human trafficking efforts. The international community must stand against the use of forced labor and the Cuban regime’s exploitation of this crisis.” Read more HERE.

No podemos permitirlo. Cualquier país que solicite asistencia médica de Cuba es cómplice de la trata de personas. La comunidad internacional debe oponerse al uso del trabajo forzado y la explotación del régimen cubano de esta crisis". Lea más AQUÍ.
Senator Scott released the below statement following Governor Andrew Cuomo’s DC press conference in which he once again begged for a bailout from the federal government to fund his decade of fiscal mismanagement.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Governor Cuomo came to DC to beg for a bailout from Florida taxpayers and 48 other states. The federal government has already provided more than $1 trillion in funding and loans to states and local governments to reimburse them for costs associated with the pandemic. This is a FACT. Congress will continue to do what is necessary to help our country recover. What we won’t do, as long as I am a member of the U.S. Senate, is use a health crisis and taxpayer money to bail out poorly-run states like Governor Cuomo’s New York.

“Governor Cuomo also continued pushing the donor state/taker state lie to distract from his failings as Governor. The amount of federal taxes paid and federal benefits received by taxpayers has absolutely nothing to do with the management of state budgets. Let’s follow the logic, or lack thereof – Is Governor Cuomo advocating for cuts to Medicare and Social Security while working to cut taxes for the wealthy in New York? That would be an odd position for the Democrat Party’s standard-bearer and dark-horse for the Democratic nomination for President to take.

“Another FACT – New York has 2 million fewer people than Florida, but their budget is nearly twice as big. Why? Reckless, irresponsible fiscal mismanagement.

“Governor Cuomo said my stand for fiscal responsibility and the respect I have for the taxpayer money of hard-working Floridians is ‘un-American.’ On the contrary, I think fighting to preserve a future for the next generations is the most American thing I can do.” Read more HERE.
Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following President Trump’s announcement that the United States will terminate its relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO). This follows Senator Scott’s calls for the WHO to be held accountable for its role in helping Communist China cover-up the coronavirus pandemic.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I applaud President Trump for providing a clear and concise message today about the growing threat of Communist China. We know Communist China hid information and misled other nations about the coronavirus, killing hundreds of thousands around the world. Pulling out of the World Health Organization, which has proven to be nothing more than a mouthpiece for Communist China, was a bold and necessary step to protect Americans.

“We also know Communist China is actively trying to sabotage American efforts to develop a coronavirus vaccine, which is why I introduced a bill to make sure that doesn’t happen. The President made clear that Communist China’s aggression and complete refusal to respect Hong Kong’s autonomy that was promised during the handover in 1997 will not be tolerated. I’ve long called for the United States to stand against Communist China and with those fighting for freedom. The President is right to begin to revoke Hong Kong’s favored trade status with the United States, take steps to suspend the entry of certain foreign nationals from China who are determined to be security risks, and study the risks Chinese companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges pose.

“It’s time we get serious and open our eyes to Communist China and General Secretary Xi’s plan for global domination, and I am glad our nation is beginning to act to hold Communist China accountable.” Read more HERE
