Dear friend,
Each week, I look forward to sharing good news with you. Every story I come across reminds me of how much we’ve overcome in the past couple of years. I’m confident that we will come out of this stronger than before and I am inspired by the resiliency of our district.
Many of our local businesses have stepped up to help our schools. Our graduating seniors have been left without prom, end of the year honoring ceremonies, and graduation. Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative is helping to honor graduating seniors at Wewahitchka High School by providing funding for banners at the school and even sending line workers to hang the banners. NASA and SpaceX scheduled a launch this past Wednesday. Though the launch was scrubbed due to weather conditions, it has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 30th at 3:22pm EST. This will be the first manned launch in almost a decade. I cannot think of something more American than going to space during one of our most unprecedented times. Verity Health Chiropractic in Tallahassee has come up with a generous and creative way to keep struggling businesses afloat. Dr. Isaac Montilla created Tap into our Tab, a system that showcases small businesses and allows for people to get a free drink or meal – with no strings attached. The goal is to give businesses a bit of the financial boost and encourage people to visit shops they may not have otherwise. The full article can be read here.
I know that we’re still far from normal. There’s still a lot of uncertainty and that’s weighing on all of us. I can’t tell you how important it is that we stick together and help one another. I hope that these weekly messages are helpful. We must continue to acknowledge the good so the bad doesn’t consume us.
