This Week in the Office of Senator Marco Rubio 

On Thursday, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, I worked with Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN) to release the Keeping Workers Paid and Employed Act, a $300 billion small business emergency economic relief plan that will help small businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic make payroll and cover expenses. On Sunday, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, I sent a letter to Jovita Carranza, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), urging the agency to issue an Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration for the State of Florida to help businesses that are suffering from economic injury due to the coronavirus receive SBA EIDL loans. On Monday, I joined Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, John Barrasso (R-WY), and Cory Gardner (R-CO) in issuing a joint statement in response to recent disinformation campaign by the  Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regarding the origins of COVID-19, a virus that originated in Wuhan, China. On Tuesday, I joined Fox & Friends to discuss the importance of putting politics aside as the United States acts quickly to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Watch the video here. 
 
On Tuesday, I issued the following statement after President Donald Trump nominated U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) Carlos Trujillo to serve as the next Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere, as well as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation. Last Friday, I was joined by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) in sending a letter to President Trump calling on the Administration to take all available and appropriate action to protect U.S. service members from International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecution following the recent misguided decision to authorize an investigation into U.S. involvement in Afghanistan.   • I introduced the  Strengthening America’s Supply Chain and National Security Act, bipartisan, bicameral legislation that builds off the  plan I released in February to combat America’s supply chain risk and dependence on China for pharmaceuticals. Read more  here.
