1. Trump's Syria Withdrawal Bravely Puts America First, the Establishment Last

The foreign policy establishment is having a meltdown — and if you know anything about the last 20 years of U.S. history, then you know that means something good is happening. President Trump set the swamp on fire with an early Monday morning tweetstorm announcing his decision to finally remove our troops from northern Syria.
Cue the hawks’ hysteria. Nightmare predictions aside, Trump has shown great bravery with this decision, given the inevitable vitriolic political backlash. The president campaigned on putting America first, and he’s fulfilling that promise to voters no matter how angry the establishment gets. His decision will stop risking American lives and wasting taxpayer dollars on policing Middle East politics. This is long overdue, seeing as our security goals in Syria have already been accomplished.

While Vice President Joe Biden was handling international relations relating to Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration, his son, Hunter, was being paid $50,000 by a Ukrainian gas company. The kicker: Hunter had no experience in natural energy. Democrats have run with the idea that Trump threatened to withhold military aid from Ukraine if Zelensky declined to investigate.
According to Jordan, President Trump wants to make sure Americans' money, that's being sent overseas, is being sent to a country that is not engaging in corrupt behavior. “I think when the president is — and this is why it relates to Ukraine – I think when the president is trying to make sure that there is not corruption, that if we’re going to be sending the hard-earned tax dollars of the American people to Ukraine to help them fight Russia, to help them get their country moving in the direction that they need, to get the security assistance they need, I think he believes that we should make sure there’s not corruption there," Jordan said.

The latest Census Bureau Current Population Survey data now show that middle-class incomes, after adjusting for inflation, have surged by $5,003 since Donald Trump became president in January 2017. Median household income has now reached $65,976 – an all-time high and up more than 8 percent in 2019 dollars under the Trump presidency. This data was compiled by the statisticians at Sentier Research, an economic research group whose founders have more than 30 years of experience at the Census Bureau in analyzing the monthly income numbers.
I reported last week in the Wall Street Journal that real median family income had soared by $4,146 under Trump through July 2019. The just-released August numbers from Sentier show a huge monthly gain of $857 in income per household. These numbers contrast sharply with the 16 years prior to Trump’s presidency. In the eight years that George W. Bush was president, median income barely showed any gain, up just $401 thanks to the deep recession of 2008.

A high-powered conservative coalition released a seven-figure ad buy Monday targeting a push by House Democrats to lower drug prices, saying the bill would set price controls, hobble medical research and increase taxes. The coalition’s members include Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity.
The television and digital ad by the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine is scheduled to run in Washington, D.C., and “targeted Congressional Districts,” along with a full-page ad in the Orlando Sentinel. “Liberals in Congress say they want lower drug costs. But they really want a down payment on their socialized medicine scheme,” says the television ad featuring shots of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont.

5. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren Mistake Money for Wealth

The Dems’ error is in presuming that money and wealth are one and the same. No, they’re not. Money is just an agreement about value that facilitates the exchange of actual wealth. Money is what governments can produce, while wealth is what we produce. If money were wealth, as opposed to a certain consequence of wealth, poverty could be stamped out with ease.
Warren, Sanders, and others vying for the favor of Democratic voters forget that a dollar in the hands of Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell is nothing like a dollar in the hands of Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett; the three richest Americans the individuals who would likely pay the most if a wealth tax were instituted. And while imposing a tax and collecting on it are two entirely different things (much as money and wealth are), that’s a column for another day.
