The Trump administration announced Saturday that it is temporarily freezing billions of dollars of payments to health insurance companies intended to help them manage higher-risk patients, sparking backlash from the industry’s lobbying arm as insurers continue to struggle to adjust to the administration’s repeated attacks on Obamacare. The federal government provides Obamacare insurers risk adjustment payments, which are supposed to cushion insurers from taking steep loses on high risk patients in the Obamacare marketplace. Texans Getting Requests to Survey Land for Border Wall
Texas property owners along the border with Mexico are getting notices from the federal government seeking permission to survey their lands for the construction of a possible wall, KENS 5 News reported on Sunday. Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, said there have been more than 200 such requests made in Starr and Hidalgo counties. One of those contacted was Escobares Mayor Noel Escobar, who said that he and his neighbors received letters from the Army Corps of Engineers and Customs and Border Protection several weeks ago asking permission to survey their land. ... Massive US Spending on NATO 'Not Acceptable'
President Trump on Monday again blasted North Atlantic Treaty Organization members for what he described as their measly spending, asking them to increase their contributions to the alliance, reiterating past criticism ahead of his trip to a NATO summit this week. “The United States is spending far more on NATO than any other Country. This is not fair, nor is it acceptable. While these countries have been increasing their contributions since I took office, they must do much more.
