Verily, the hedonists thrill for celebration.
There is an obvious fixation found in this
behavior concerning objects alike the dumb

are days set aside for the observance of
reverence, respect and honor. Heretofore
find this Memorial Day whereupon whispered
silence is given for those Saints who have gone
before us. Indeed, so that we may be here now ...

Solemn pictures of all 20 Memorial cemeteries overseas ...
Written in 2009 ... Our European arrogance in alphabetical order. Apologize to no one. Remind those of our sacrifice and don't confuse arrogance with leadership. The count is 104,366 dead brave Americans. And we have to watch an American 'elected' leader (Obama) who apologizes to Europe and the Middle East that our country is "arrogant"! American Battle Monuments Commission releases Memorial Day 2017 Film
To commemorate Memorial Day, ABMC is releasing “Memorial Day 2017: The Cost of Freedom (link is external).” This short film features three family members who have a loved one buried overseas. Robert Meek, son of 2nd Lt. Robert H. Meek, Bill Chiodo, son of 2nd Lt. Godfrey J. Savard, and Thomas Lanagan, nephew of Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, all participated in video interviews to tell the story of their family member. This film includes short excerpts from these interviews, where these men talk about the true cost of freedom in the United States. Staff from ABMC’s Office of External Affairs conducts these interviews at its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and then uses portions of the videos to share the agency’s mission. [...]

Memorial Day 2017 at Cambridge American Cemetery
Memorial Day 2016 at Normandy American Cemetery
is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people
who died while serving in the country's armed forces.
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

10 Things to Remember About Memorial Day
by David Holzel
Memorial Day is much more than just a three-day weekend and a chance to get the year's first sunburn.
Here's a handy 10-pack of facts to give the holiday some perspective.
1. IT STARTED WITH THE CIVIL WAR
Memorial Day was a response to the unprecedented carnage of the Civil War, in which some 620,000 soldiers on both sides died.
The loss of life and its effect on communities throughout the country led to spontaneous commemorations of the dead:
2. GENERAL LOGAN MADE IT OFFICIAL
3. IT WAS FIRST KNOWN AS DECORATION DAY
4. THE HOLIDAY IS A FRANCHISE
Calling Memorial Day a "national holiday" is a bit of a misnomer. While there are 10 federal holidays created by Congress—including Memorial Day—they apply only to Federal employees and the District of Columbia. Federal Memorial Day, established in 1888, allowed Civil War veterans, many of whom were drawing a government paycheck, to honor their fallen comrades without being docked a day's pay. For the rest of us, our holidays were enacted state by state. [...]
5. IT WAS JAMES GARFIELD'S FINEST HOUR—OR MAYBE HOUR-AND-A-HALF.
On May 30, 1868, President Ulysses S. Grant presided over the first Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery—which, until 1864, was Confederate General Robert E. Lee's plantation. Some 5000 people attended on a spring day which, The New York Times reported, was "somewhat too warm for comfort." The principal speaker was James A. Garfield, a Civil War general, Republican congressman from Ohio and future president. [...]
6. NOT EVEN THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER CAN AVOID MEDIA SCRUTINY THESE DAYS
7. VIETNAM VETS GO WHOLE HOG.
On Memorial Day weekend in 1988, 2500 motorcyclists rode into Washington, D.C. for the first Rolling Thunder
rally to draw attention to Vietnam War soldiers still missing in action or prisoners of war. [...]
* A national veterans rights group, Rolling Thunder takes its name from the B-52 carpet-bombing runs during the war in Vietnam.
8. MEMORIAL DAY HAS ITS CUSTOMS
General Orders No. 11 stated that "in this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed," but over time several customs and symbols became associated with the holiday. [...]
9. THERE STILL IS A GRAY MEMORIAL DAY
Several Southern states continue to set aside a day for honoring the Confederate dead, which is usually called Confederate Memorial Day. It's on the fourth in April in Alabama, in Georgia, in Louisiana and Tennessee, the last Monday in April in Mississippi, May 10 in North and South Carolina, in Texas, and the last Monday in May in Virginia.
10. EACH MEMORIAL DAY IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT
Why Democrats want you to forget the Confederacy
Exclusive: Joseph Farah spills dirty little secret behind left's assault on statues, flags, memorials
by Joseph Farah
Have you noticed the movement to remove statues, memorials, flags and markers that commemorate the historical reality of the Confederacy in America? Earlier this month, we saw another vivid example of this when New Orleans removed the last of three statues of Confederate heroes – Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and P.T. Beauregard. It’s happening in dozens of states – not just Southern. Some of these monuments have been around for nearly 150 years. What’s this new war on the Confederacy all about? I have a theory. I don’t think it explains the phenomenon in its entirety. But I definitely think it’s part of the explanation for the scorched-earth policy against American history, the attempt to erase any historical vestige of the most costly war in our history. First, you will notice that Democrats are nearly always at the forefront of this kind of activity. [...]
3 often overlooked groups to remember this Memorial Day
Exclusive: Chuck Norris honors brave Americans saving lives, serving country
by Chuck Norris
Memorial Day is our annual commemoration of those who paid the ultimate price while serving in America’s Armed Forces. This year, I’m going to expand my tribute to include three other closely related special groups who also deserve our recognition.
1) Roughly 175-200 K-9s are killed or die annually while in police service in the U.S. alone, according to the Connecticut Police Work Dog Association. That’s at least one death every two days.
2) The second group of individuals I’d challenge everyone to remember and honor this Memorial Day are America’s peace officers, especially those who have died in service to their country. They are not being recognized and honored the way they should, especially by the mainstream media. Each and every day, they put their lives on the line, and many have fallen serving their communities.
3) The third often overlooked group I’d call you to remember this Memorial Day is the families of those who have lost loved ones in the Armed Forces. In thanks for their sacrifice, we often overlook that their families are still right in our community, neighborhoods and churches. [...]

The Fibonacci Sequence is a string of numbers that begins with zero and one which can be extended infinitely by adding up any two consecutive numbers to find the next in the sequence. The Golden Ratio is a mathematical term used to describe the relationship of two figures, whereby the numbers seem to be in some form of complimentary ratio. To link the Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio we must look at the ratio between two consecutive numbers in Fibonacci, and observe the pattern this ratio takes as you use ever higher numbers. The Golden Ratio has fascinated the world's most knowledgeable people for millennia since its discovery, and we have seen its influence in some of the finest works mankind has ever produced. Is the Golden Ratio a universal law applied by nature? The evidence seems to suggest so, and the aforementioned Leonardo Da Vinci may have alluded to this in some of his most famous works.
4 Questions That Will Make You Question Reality

Reality - what does that word mean to you? As well as forming a personality type out of a random assortment of chemicals, the human brain is also capable of creating its own subjective social realities, by perceiving events and individuals in a way which pleases it the most. This next entry is a little lighter than the rest because my brain is tired and I'm trying to figure out how biased and racist all my relatives were over Christmas.Elon Musk knows a thing or two about technology, at least I hope he does; has anyone actually looked inside a Space-X rocket or a Tesla car? There could be just a bunch of cats taped together in there for all we know.
What Happens When AI Takes Over?
Published on May 25, 2017 - Strange Mysteries
There is no denying the fact that we all exist today in the age of artificial intelligence, and while this era is only just beginning, many of us will live to see AI develop to a point where it permeates all human society. But how far can AI possibly go? As robots continue to take manual labour jobs around the world, many people are understandably concerned as to whether there will be enough blue collar positions available in the coming years. Education systems the world over are geared up to do one thing above all else; make you employable. But what happens when the skills you've been taught are no longer relevant and the jobs you've been trained for no longer exist? Imagine if you were sending a romantic text slash booty call to someone one day and in the middle of typing it out Siri pipes up: "Hey there, I see you're trying to get laid. Would you like some assistance?" "Well sure Siri, help a player out." What do Stephen Hawking, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates and Elon Musk all have in common - aside from being brilliant minds and incredibly rich, obviously.
