GOPe budget deal snatches defeat from the jaws of victory

Yesterday I posted an article about
how Reince Priebus threatened Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Jeb Bush,
saying that if they continued to refuse giving their endorsement to
Donald Trump, he would rig the primaries against them if they decide to
run for president in 2020. And using a Star Wars analogy, I concluded
that “Lord Priebus” was essentially telling Conservatives everywhere
that, when it comes to the Republican party, this is not the party we
are looking for.
Well,
just as the evil Sith Lords of the Dark Side had an army to force their
will on the galaxy, Lord Priebus has his own version of loyal storm
troopers in Washington marching to victory as they force the will Empire
we know as the GOP establishment. Although, as Erick Erickson tells us, in this case the GOPe spells victory S-U-R-R-E-N-D-E-R.
Fresh off a 10-day vacation election fundraising tour earlier this month, Marco Rubio (R-FL) advocated a surrender to
the Democrats with a spending bill needed to fund the government before
the current short-term spending agreement expires at the end of the
month. The sell-out he promoted would give the baby-butchers and
black-market body parts dealers at Planned Parenthood funding demanded by
the pro-abortion Democrats in exchange for their support of funding to
fight the over-hyped Zika virus crisis . . . and buy a few votes for
Marco.
Needless
to say, with Mitch McConnell at the helm, and the need to get out of
Washington for another “vacation,” this surrender at the expense of the
unborn was a no-brainer–a phrase given an entirely new meaning when talking about Mitch McConnell–and was advanced.
As
if this capitulation wasn’t enough, the dead-babies for dead-presidents
compromise is only good until December. At that point, the sell-out
circus will resume during the lame duck Congress when no one has to
worry about how their vote will affect their campaign. With the
spotlight on the transition taking place in the White House, the
feckless wonders on Capitol Hill will be free to rubber stamp Obama’s
remaining agenda.
Thanks
to a myriad of broken promises to Conservatives too numerous to list,
The GOPe has conclusively proven that the Republican party is no longer
the party of Reagan–no longer a home for Conservatives.
Using
the Star Wars analogy one more time, the Empire was eventually
destroyed by the return of the Jedi. In our post-constitutional America,
the Constitutional Conservatives are the Jedi. And if we are willing,
we can lead the rebellion to victory over the Dark Side known as the GOP
establishment.
