Key Vote Alert
Vote “NO” on Faraday Corporate Welfare Bill
(Las Vegas, NV) – Citizen Outreach urges all
members of the Nevada Legislature to oppose legislation granting Faraday Future corporate
welfare benefits during the special session called by Gov. Brian Sandoval.
It
is arguable that the proposed program of tax incentives is
unconstitutional, but even if not, it certainly violates the spirit of
the principle that government should not be picking winners and losers
in a free
market economy.
If Nevada’s existing business climate isn’t good enough for Faraday, then measures
should be taken by the governor and Legislature to improve the state’s business
climate for ALL businesses of all sizes in all industries, not just one speculative
business that has curried favor with the governor’s economic development
operation.
Indeed, it is especially egregious and insulting to extend special tax
relief to a company with no roots or prior ties to Nevada just six months after
the Legislature passed the largest tax increase in state history on current and
longtime Nevada businesses and residents.
Therefore, just as Citizen Outreach will double-weight SB483 - the $1.4
billion tax hike - on our scorecard for the 2015 Ratings of the Nevada Legislature,
we will be double-weighting the Faraday Farce bill, as well.
