Hillary Continues To Spout Lies, This Time About Husband-Former President Bill
by Dave Levine
In today's Washington Times, Stephen Dinan posted a story titled "Hillary Clinton Rejects Bill's Immigration Crackdown, Vows Lenient Approach" at
At the beginning of his piece, Dinan states the following:
****************************** ****************************
"Bill Clinton was the strictest President in modern political times when it comes to Immigration."
****************************** ****************************
I almost barfed when I read this! I did some research and found the following sites on just what President Bill Clinton did during his tenure on Immigration:
You'll find the SIX (6) Amnesties signed by President Clinton in the NumbersUSA piece from Febraury 25, 2015 at
Here are the facts that Dinan failed to give you:
-Bill
Clinton signed SIX (6) small Amnesty bills that amounted to an
estimated 3 million illegal aliens being Amnestied (nearly as many as
Reagan's IRCA Amnesty Amnestied) and
-He
signed the 1996 IIRIRA that gave us the 287.g program which was
voluntary for states to participate in. Only five (5) states implemented
it by 2006, some 10 years later.
Furthermore, the SCOTUS severely weakened the IIRIRA by its horrific 2001Zadvydas v. Davis decision.
Under the IIRIRA, the Basic Pilot Program for what has come to be known
as "E-verify" was created and began to be implemented in 1997. However,
E-verify--as it is in all but 7 states which have made it
mandatory--was and still IS A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM that most U.S. employers
hiring illegals can ignore. In other words, it had/has no teeth! Bottom line?
The 1996 IIRIRA was a "feel good" act that had no teeth, one that fooled many Americans into thinking that
Congress and the President were doing something about the Invasion from
Mexico when in fact they really weren't. As a matter of fact, it wasn't
under 2004 when Arizona passed Prop 200, then LAWA (mandatory E-verify
for ALL AZ businesses) in 2007 and then in 2010 when The Grand Canyon
State passed 1070--the strictest laws against illegal immigration in the
nation--that Americans saw some laws with teeth...at the state level
only, of course!
For
Dinan, then, to call Bill Clinton "the strictest President in modern
times on Immigration" is the height of absurdity [Anecdotally, Ike was
probably the toughest President in modern times with his Operation Wetback in
1954 to return 3.5 million illegal alien Mexicans to Mexico. Except for
two Mexican-Americans who were accidentally "deported", the
operation was wildly successful].
