The financial, moral, and spiritual
tragedy of abortion
Abortion is a form of child sacrifice that has been repackaged to be dedicated to the "gods of convenience".googleimages
The costs of abortion are
unprecedented when measuring three issues; the financial, moral, and
spiritual tragedy of nearly 57 million abortions since Roe-Wade was
approved as the law of the land in 1973.
Legal
abortions cost nearly $23 billion dollars, however it is the illegal
abortion that still commanded the most cost instead of the estimated
$600 for one abortion. Illegal abortions could cost thousands of dollars
depending on if the baby was close to its projected birth. Nobody
really has an idea how many abortions took place prior to Roe-Wade but
tens of millions more abortions are not out of the realm of probability.
The
financial impact to America’s gross domestic product (GDP) will cost
this country $45 trillion dollars according to calculations of the
Movement for a Better America, and that is merely the resulting labor
costs. Our national debt stands at over $16 trillion, an indication of
how goods and services are also negatively impacted due to 56 million
missing Americans. Those costs are difficult to calculate.
Social
Security could be bankrupt in 21-year because the generation under
45-years of age has one third of the taxpayer base missing due to
abortions. Each day 10,000 baby boomers are projected to retire each day
for the next two decades. The hole left in America’s tax base from the
millions of abortions will really be felt exponentially for decades.
The
moral issue of abortion rarely is talked about even though religious
standards clearly have God finding something as abortion as an
abomination. Scriptures as the “shedding of innocent blood” is something
God hates. There is no moral justification coming from the Bible in
scripture to validate abortion.
One
can extend the moral issue to one of rights for the father or potential
baby. Rarely are the rights of the father given any consideration,
however if the baby is born then all of a sudden the father is expected
to assume his role whether the child is wanted or not wanted. The fetus’
right to life and constitutional rights have been obliterated in lieu
of rights of the mother.
Our
US Constitution’s spirit of the law is that one is free to do as one
pleases as long as it does not interfere with the rights of another.
Poor laws are constructed when this standard is not taken enough into
consideration. Bad calls were made with the passage of Roe-Wade without
sufficiently weighing the rights of the father and baby.
However
the most devastating impact to society is the spiritual damage that is a
consequence of injustice and unfair treatment of somebody unable to
defend themselves. A philosopher declared you can tell the moral
character of a society by how they treat the most vulnerable, and there
is hardly anything more vulnerable than an unborn baby in the womb.
Self-centered
thinking clearly is a main driver for abortion which is indicated by
the pro-choice moniker. Choice for me, but not choice for either of you,
the father or baby. Selfishness does reign in the majority of decisions
for abortions as it becomes either inconvenient for me or I can’t
afford to raise a child by myself. Excuse me but that is not how God
setup the system.
This
brings us to the spiritual issue of abortion as God has designed the
creation model for man and woman to raise a child together. This man and
woman model is still the best for raising children for child
development within a marriage. Child experts substantiate that raising
children in a stable marriage environment generates the best results.
A
combination of factors are eroding the ideal model for raising children
which many times deals with the same pitfalls as abortion…..pride,
self-centered, non-sacrificial, and uncaring “adults” are divorcing,
aborting, and breaking vows for personal expediency. Our prisons are
full of people damaged from absent fathers, unsupervised or abused
children, and broken families leaving a trail of destruction in the
development of children. Abortion codifies these negative results
spiritually in ways not even considered.
The
shedding of innocent blood is unjust…period, and God always has judged
societies for sacrificing their children by abominable practices. One
can fill in the blank because God is revolted by the destruction of
children regardless of the sorry justification concocted by people. God
also is not in a hurry to judge sin as stipulated in the statement, “the
iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full”. It is still God's desire
that all come to repentance.
Although
Jesus walked in the anointing of mercy and grace in the Holy Spirit,
even He declared “it would be better to tie a millstone around your neck
and be hurled into the sea than to harm one of these little ones”.
Debate
can be articulated regarding whether the shedding of innocent blood
curses the land or the city. When one inspects the curses of ignoring
the law as outlined in Deuteronomy 28, one could make an assumption
either way. The land “vomiting out” the inhabitants can be attributed to
a region or a specific location.
It
is very symbolic that even Pontius Pilate, a heathen Roman official,
washed his hands and declared himself innocent of shedding Jesus' blood.
Nobody was eager to face judgment about shedding the blood of an
innocent individual.
The
spirits of the slaughtered children return to God whom gave it, and
little consideration is done or believed regarding what happens to the
stolen lives of “fetuses” before having the opportunity to be born. The
standard of “before you were in your mother’s womb, I knew thee” clearly
establishes foreknowledge of the individual before being conceived in
the womb. This issue is never addressed by the abortion forces because
it is not understood or even conceivable.
This
out of order travesty will one day be set in order by God Himself. The
spiritual mess generated by abortion regarding the lives lost and impact
of being missing will be corrected beyond the resolution capability of
what humans can dream up. There is immeasurable cleaning up to do.
It is not the end of the story by far.
Research Claims Abortions Have Cost over $16 Trillion in Federal Revenue

A
former liberal activist, turned pro-life political consultant has
published research that shows the cost of abortions in America.
According to Mark Olson’s calculations, abortions have used more than
$16 trillion of federal revenue, about the same amount as the United
States national debt.
Olson’s research begins before the Roe v. Wade decision.
He
explained, "The figure of 55 million persons aborted, typically
reported by pro-life groups, is a significant undercount. Abortions did
not magically begin occurring in 1973 [when the Supreme Court allowed
them], yet that is when everyone starts counting."
Olson’s findings are unsettling: The United States has lost over 125 million babies to abortion.
Charisma News explains
the methodology, writing, “When the per-capita individual federal tax
burden for each respective year is applied to the population loss model,
the result is a statistically significant correlation between our
current national debt and federal revenue loss due to abortion.
“Basic
macroeconomics says that any such loss in population will result in a
collapse of the necessary aggregate supply and demand to sustain
long-term national economic growth.”
Olson said, "We
can argue over a balanced-budget amendment or tax-and-spend policies,
but the reality is that we have lost over 125 million persons—no liberal
or conservative economic policy can make up for that loss. We need to
stop destroying our most precious economic resource, our people."
