ATLAS SHRUGGED III WORLD PREMIER!
Gia and I and a few close friends were fortunate enough to
be invited to attend the world premier of “Atlas Shrugged Part III: Who is John
Galt?” at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas last night. Terrific movie with an extremely important
message that should be taught by parents to every kid in America who is
currently being indoctrinated at one of our government education camps.
And it was a real treat to see my friend and taxpayer
champion Grover Norquist of
Americans for Tax Reform – who is fond of saying he wants to see government
shrunk to a size that can be drowned in a bathtub – cast against type as a
government apparatchik!
It was also cool to see my good friend and conservative
talk-show host Alan Stock emcee the
premier festivities and have his name included in the movie credits. Sure hope he’s not lured away from Vegas for
the glitz and glamor of Hollywood!
But the real treat for me was not only meeting the actor who
does a fabulous job playing John Galt
in the movie, Kris Polaha, but
finding out that he’s the son of one of my former campaign training “students”
from way back in the 1990s, Reno District Court Judge Jerry Polaha!
Now how cool is it to be able to answer the immortal question
“Who is John Galt?” with “My son!”?
And what a blast hanging out with the cast and crew at the
Moon Nightclub up on the 53rd floor of the Palms for the
after-party. Thanks to producer John
Aglialoro – a past VIP speaker at our First Friday Happy Hour – for the
invitation and hospitality.
Atlas Shrugged Part
III: Who is John Galt? comes out for the general public this Friday,
September 12. Do yourself a favor and go
see it!
IS SANDOVAL HIDING SOMETHING IN THE TESLA DEAL?
If you liked how ObamaCare was shoved down the nation’s
throat, you’re gonna love how Gov. Brian
Sandoval is trying to quickly force the Nevada Legislature to rubber-stamp
his deal for Tesla Motors to build its battery gigafactory here.
No one has seen the actual agreement – just as no one saw
the full ObamaCare bill before Congress voted on it. And yet the governor is calling a “special
session” of the Legislature for this Wednesday afternoon, where legislators are
expected to vote to ink the deal and be home by supper time.
Nevada citizens and taxpayers will get no opportunity to
read the fine print of the 20-year deal that we’ll be on the hook for if it
goes sour. If anything goes wrong, well,
the next governor…or the one after that…or the one after that…will just have to
deal with it.
But what could possibly go wrong over a period of 20 years,
right? I mean, how much have cell phones
changed since 1994, right? And what are
the odds of the Chinese or someone else inventing an even better, cheaper
battery for electric cars over the next 20 years, right?
The Tesla deal – struck behind closed doors with no public
or legislative involvement - was announced on Thursday. And in the span of a few hours on Wednesday,
less than a week later, citizen legislators are supposed to review it, assess
it, scrutinize it and approve it?
Why can’t legislators and taxpayers have at least 72 hours
to read the contract before being called into special session to approve it? What’s the rush?
Maybe this really is a solid deal that will ultimately be
very beneficial to the state. Then
again, maybe not.
Seriously, why is this deal being forced upon us sight
unseen so quickly? Why can’t the special
session be called a week or so AFTER the full agreement is released and posted
on the Internet for public and legislative review?
Something’s not right here.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
"I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will
never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for
mine." – John Galt
