Did you read of the bomb killing many of the Syrian Free
Army leaders (the Islamists posing as US allies but whose leaders have
admitted they help ISIS)?
When I first read this, I immediately thought of Putin's
Chechen allies. They are no. 1 on my suspect list. If my suspicions are correct,
then Putin has pulled off another act of sheer genius.
Putin's right hand man in Chechnya is Chechen President
Ramzan Kadryov, who has been doing some wheeling and dealing with
Middle Eastern leaders lately on behalf of Russia. The Russian strategy is
almost the diametric opposite of the American one.
While the US pours money and weapons into groups it HOPES
will be loyal, Russia pacifies first, then cautiously cuts deals, including
generous bribes, leaders who are thoroughly terrorized by the Russians. These
leaders know that if you cross-a the bear, he breaka you face. Another diametric
opposite is that the Russians respect the rights of Christians and other
minorities in the Middle East and seek to protect them, while the US pursues
policies that invariably redound to the death, exile and persecution of Middle
East Christians, Yazidis, Alawites, etc.I don't see any hope of the hapless West ever adopting this
tough love strategy, and since we are competing in the world with none other
than the supreme masters of tough love in foreign policy, we are headed for
trouble. It doesn't matter too much how many of your hard earned tax dollars go
to the terrorists of the Syrian Free army if the Russians and their cut throat
Chechens are behind the scenes throwing monkey wrenches in the
works.
The best man always wins, and that will not be the one who
doesn't fight to win.
You don't have to like Putin, but
if Washington doesn't stop clowning around on the world stage and start
imitating Putin, adopting his brilliant strategies, we may
soon face the Russian grand master across the game board quietly murmering
'check mate.'Read more about the Chechens in the Middle East
