Most Republicans prefer to vote for the most conservative candidates in elections. Lets face it, nobody is inspired by moderation, compromise, and beltway-style politicking.
Yet somehow establishment Republicans continue to get elected.
One of the reasons is their money advantage. Another is the apathy of ignorant voters who perform the “civic duty” they learned about in school by dutifully checking “R” on the ballot box. But most voters are at least mildly interested in where a candidate stands on the issues. They aren’t motivated enough to actually peruse the voting records of incumbents (lets face it, it is a bit complicated), so instead they look towards endorsements for assurance. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

On the day of the Mississippi primary election, The Atlantic’s Molly Ball published a profile on septuagenarian Senator Thad Cochran called Thad Cochran, the last of the naïve Republicans. Thad Cochran’s campaign reeks of flopsweat
Thad Cochran’s senate campaign is shrinking before our very eyes. Despite burning through millions of dollars and the credibility of the NRSC, the geriatric, though apparently still randy, Cochran finished behind challenger Chris McDaniel. Without the large scale expenditure of funds by go-along-get-along groups like the Chamber of Commerce and Haley Barbour’s “conservative” PAC and scurrilous attacks from the NRSC and the clownish Brad Dayspring that would have shamed a crack ‘ho the race would have been a blow out. Obama declined to trade cash for Bergdahl
Just about every hour a new revelation is made about the facts and circumstances of the terrorist-leader-for-deserter swap engineered by our commander in chief. We’ve known for a while that Barack Obama had agitated for the release of these five particular prisoners since 2011, I don’t know if they are distant relatives or what. Now FoxNews is reporting that that there were active negotiations for Bergdahl’s release in December 2013 for an undisclosed amount of cash and no prisoners . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

For a while now, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has told conservatives that we risk Republicans losing to Democrats when we pit outsiders against incumbents because we don’t like their politics. I think I have finally arrived.
I get a lot of political books to review. But I have now reached the point where I am getting cookbooks to review. I would much rather review a cookbook. The first to show up in the mail is hitting me perfectly where I am in the kitchen at the moment.
For those of you who do not know, I cook. I am an amateur, but I love it. I have a Big Green Egg and am on the verge of investing in a DCS grill to replace an older Weber gas grill. I am one of those people who gets up at 5 o’clock in the morning to get bread going and rising so I can have fresh, homemade bread, for breakfast. I cook.
And I am always looking for new cookbooks and magazines and recipes.
