There's widespread agreement in the legal community that President Barack H. Obama broke the law by failing to give Congress a 30 day notice before releasing five al-Qaida terrorist leaders from the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Yesterday, I told you about CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who said Obama's prisoner-swap "clearly broke the law."
Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley of George Washington University also told CNN:
FOX News' Judge Andrew Napolitano went so far as to say that President Obama and his team.
+ + Will these al-Qaida leaders possibly resume terrorist activities? Obama: "Absolutely."
But the big question surrounding this illegal prisoner exchange is, "Why did the President do it?"
Our Commander-in-Chief had to know that releasing these five al-Qaida leaders would endanger U.S. soldiers and civilians. In fact, at a press conference today in Warsaw, Poland, Mr. Obama admitted that these men still pose a potentially deadly threat to the American people:
So, why did the President of the United States release five hardcore terrorists held prisoner at Guantanamo Bay? The biggest reason might be, simply, to see if he can get away with it.
Professor Turley told CNN that, through this illegal prisoner exchange, Mr. Obama is "essentially arguing... that when it comes to Gitmo, he has almost absolute power, that it is his prerogative, his inherent authority to be able to make these decisions as he sees fit."
This horrible strategy, if allowed to continue, not only will make us weaker on the world stage, it will get many more Americans killed at the hands of blood-thirsty terrorists.

As I stated yesterday, there's little doubt the President of the United States has given aid and comfort to the enemy by releasing five al-Qaeda leaders. It's another lawless act that violates the sacred trust of the people and should give rise to for every American demanding Barack H. Obama's immediate impeachment!
Liberty Counsel Action believes that our Commander-in-Chief is actively and intentionally betraying our country’s interests. This most recent abuse of presidential power makes him subject to an inquiry to determine if he has committed treason.

There's no question Mr. Obama wants to shutter Gitmo. He's been pushing to close it since he was a U.S. Senator. In fact, 13 months ago, the President called the military prison at Guantanamo Bay "not necessary," "expensive," and "inefficient." He also said, "It hurts us in terms of our international standing. It lessens cooperation with our allies on counterterrorism efforts. It is a recruitment tool for extremists. It needs to be closed."
Up until now, Congress has managed to keep open the detention camp. Many lawmakers believe that having America's deadliest enemies incarcerated far away from the U.S. on a Navy base in Cuba is the best way to keep us safe. And most Americans agree.
But if President Obama can get this illegal prisoner-swap past the House and Senate what's to stop him from emptying the Guantanamo Bay detention camp outright?
Releasing five high-ranking and high-risk terrorist leaders who put countless American lives in danger is bad enough. But a very real threat now exists that the President will release 144 more in the near future.

Obama's decision this past weekend to swap five "high-risk" al-Qaida
leaders for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is being called outrageous by
many and treasonous by some.
Most legal experts agree that our Commander-in-Chief broke the law by failing to give Congress 30 days notice of this questionable prisoner exchange. But the Obama administration insists the urgent nature of Bergdahl's release was necessary "to save his life."
Grassroots Americans across the country are scratching their heads wondering why the President of the United States would release five dangerous terrorists -- Taliban leaders who Sen. violating federal law. To make matters worse, this is a long series of
violations of federal law this president has been accused of. ... I
don't think there's much debate that they're in violation of the law."

a constitutional attorney, I can tell you that Congress and the People
need to stop Barack H. Obama right here, right now. If we don't, the
President could end up releasing the remaining 144 prisoners reportedly
held captive at Guantanamo Bay as part of his Muslim appeasement
strategy.
