Sue Barack Obama? ... Andrew McCarthy Rightly Calls That Boehner Scheme "Feckless" And "Specious."
One thing is certain. You're only hearing talk about Special Prosecutors and lawsuits against Barack Obama because our elected officials are finally starting to get the message. They know the American people are frustrated, they know that something must be done and make no mistake, your calls and faxes are, in large part, responsible for this miraculous awakening in the halls of Congress
But our job is not done and the task before us now is to force our elected officials to stop the meaningless posturing and do something substantive to save our great nation.
John Boehner says he wants to sue Barack Obama... Really...? Shame on you John Boehner.
We're sure that Mr. Boehner has issued the call because he knows that threat of a lawsuit plays to the cheap seats, but let's be real, Mr. Boehner also knows that a lawsuit, if Congress can even convince a court to entertain such a suit, would take years... and as the years pass, Mr. Boehner would then be able to say that he's not doing anything else because the matter is in the courts.
It's a dodge... and it's Constitutionally questionable at best... Don't allow yourself to be deceived by Mr. Boehner's tough-sounding and feckless words and schemes.
Andrew McCarthy with National Review elaborated: "In essence, Boehner & Co. are fecklessly asking the courts to do their heavy lifting for them — a classic case of assuming the pose of meaningful action while in reality doing nothing. The truth of the matter is that Congress can do more by simply following the Constitution. The Constitution outlines the resources that Congress has at its disposal when confronting an out-of-control executive branch and filing a feckless and specious lawsuit is NOT one of them.
Congress has the power to impeach (that's a fancy word for remove) any federal official, Congress has the power to jail any federal official who is in Contempt of Congress (without asking Eric Holder to do it) and if Harry Reid's Senate doesn't like it, the House of Representatives — and the House of Representatives alone — has the power of the pursue and can refuse to fund anything and everything.
McCarthy again: "Obviously, Republican leadership does not see its 'other options' as including the exercise of powers the Constitution gives Congress to stop executive lawlessness in its tracks, namely, cutting off the executive branch’s funding and impeaching executive branch officials who violate the law, carry out lawless policy, mislead lawmakers, stonewall investigations, and frustrate Congress’s constitutional oversight function."

The only problem with the calls to appoint a Special Prosecutor is that only one man has the power to appoint a Special Prosecutor and that man is Eric Holder.
Do our elected officials honestly believe that Eric Holder is going to appoint a Special Prosecutor? And if Holder could somehow be forced to appoint a Special Prosecutor, do our elected officials honestly believe that the man or woman selected for the job would not be an Obama apparatchik who would simply sweep the matter under the rug?
