“I’m proud I voted for AB138”
My opponent told the Veterans in Politics endorsement committee on Saturday that he was proud he voted for AB138.
I give him some credit for voting for a tax abatement bill since he
voted for 55 of the 56 tax/fee increases that were before the Senate in
the last session of the Legislature. Unfortunately he even got this one
wrong.
Even though AB138 does give a tax
abatement to a company that makes a donation of up to $1 million to a
college or university in Nevada it also requires that company comply
with ObamaCare. He explains this away by saying they have to comply
with it anyway since it is requirement in federal law. That it
absolutely true but there are a myriad of federal laws that aren’t
mentioned in this bill.
Instead of rolling over
and playing dead on this bill he could have stood up and asked for this
provision to be taken out. He could have tried to replace the
ObamaCare language with language that actually helped Nevadans instead
of hurting them.
Hutchison has built his entire
political persona on his opposition to ObamaCare and his having been
picked by Governor’s Gibbons and Sandoval to represent Nevada in a court
case that was lost before the United States Supreme Court. I give him
credit for donating his time to fight ObamaCare but to lose that fight
and then vote three times for ObamaCare is not what I want from someone
who calls themselves a fighter. I want someone who will fight tooth and
nail to stop ObamaCare, not someone who will require a company to
comply with ObamaCare before they can get a tax abatement from the State
of Nevada.
I have not given up on opposing
ObamaCare but my opponent has. If elected I will oppose this
unwarranted intrusion into our lives by the federal government. It is
the right thing to do.
