Conservatives,
The IRS targeting scandal is taking center stage on Capitol Hill today -- in a big way. Republicans accuse the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's ranking member, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), of lying about staff members conspiring with former IRS official Lois Lerner to target the conservative group True the Vote in 2012.
Yesterday, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Daniel Issa (R-CA), and five Subcommittee chairmen sent Rep. Cummings a letter asking him to explain why his committee staff contacted the IRS about True the Vote, why that contact was hidden from Republicans, and why the Ranking Member denied those staffers actions in February. Here's an excerpt:
"Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional agency scrutiny, communication records between your staff and IRS officials – which you did not disclose to Majority Members or staff – indicates otherwise. ... You have an obligation to fully explain your staff’s undisclosed contacts with the IRS."
+ + When Will Grassroots Americans Say "Enough"?
Yesterday's startling revelation by the House Oversight Committee chairman is more glaring evidence that the IRS is being used as a political weapon. When will grassroots Americans -- from both parties -- finally have enough of this unconstitutional targeting by the IRS?
It's time to take action and demand that Congress fully investigate the IRS. Using Grassfire's FaxFire system, you can immediately contact your two Nevada Senators, your Representative and key leaders in the House and Senate.
With Senators and Representatives set to leave Washington, D.C. for their two-week Easter recess, there's not a moment to waste. Grassroots patriots must take immediate action to force a full investigation into the IRS targeting scandal!
+ + Demand Congress Fully Investigate The IRS Now!
Earlier today, in a 21-12 party-line vote, the House Oversight Committee voted to hold Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress. Yesterday, the House Ways and Means Committee also voted along party lines (23-14) to refer the IRS' former head of tax-exempt organizations to the Justice Department for prosecution. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Ways and Means claims Lerner may have violated "one or more criminal statutes."
Through Grassfire's expanded FaxFire option, you can message members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee AND the House Ways and Means Committee right now -- before their two-week Easter recess!
Even though our "Radical-in-Chief" claimed in February that there's "not even a smidgeon of corruption" at the IRS, this new information tells a much different story. Americans need to know the full truth about who ordered the targeting, who carried it out and who used their political power in an attempt to silence opposing conservative voices leading up to the 2012 elections.
The White House, the Justice Department and the liberal media want the IRS scandal to go away. You need to make sure it doesn't!
Thank you, in advance, for taking a stand.
The Grassfire Team
P.S. Again, more evidence has surfaced that indicates high-ranking Democrats used the IRS to target political opponents and silence conservative voices in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election.
