Ask State Legislators to OPPOSE Trade Promotion Authority
Although our fight to stop the renewal of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) must ultimately be won in Congress, the state legislatures also have some influence on this issue. For more information on what TPA is and why we should oppose it, read "Stop the Free Trade Agenda: Stop Trade Promotion Authority."
The reason why we must appeal to our state legislators to help stop congressional approval of TPA is that the threat to our national independence and personal freedoms posed by two proposed mega free trade partnerships (Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP, and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP) is arguably the most important threat to our nation at this time. We're talking about agreements that would further the process of cancelling the Declaration of Independence as well as the Constitution. Stated another way: The TPP and TTIP would lead to the eventual economic and political integration of the United States with 11 Pacific Rim nations (including Japan, but not China, for now) and the European Union.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has even proposed model legislation for state legislators to introduce in their respective legislatures urging Congress to renew TPA and approve the TPP and TTIP agreements. ALEC's support is very siginificant because it claims to have nearly 2000 state legislators as members
So, stopping U.S. involvement in the whole long-term pattern of ever-larger economic and political blocs of nations boils down to stopping renewal of TPA in Congress. We can't afford to be complacent. We've got to assume that there is a good chance that TPA will be renewed unless we create sufficient opposition to vote it down. And, there's already some talk of passing the TPA renewal in a lame-duck session of Congress after this fall's elections, if need be.

Send a prewritten, editable email to your state legislators asking them to oppose the introduction of any resolutions in support of congressional renewal of Trade Promotion Authority for the Obama administration.
Phone calls can also be very effective, and of course, the most effective way to educate your state legislators is by making personal visits to their offices. Click here for contact information.
Our national independence and personal freedoms are at stake!
Thanks.
