NEVADA REPUBLICAN PARTY NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES
FIRST SET OF RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES FOR ENDORSEMENT
The Nevada Republican Party Central Committee Will Meet This Weekend in Fallon, Nevada To Vote On First Set of Candidate Endorsements

In September 2013, the Nevada Republican Party Central Committee voted overwhelmingly to task the standing Nominations and Candidate Recruitment Committee with creating and executing a process for pre-primary party endorsements, which are allowed under the current bylaws.  As directed by the Central Committee, Chairman Michael J. McDonald insured that the 16 members of the Nominations Committee, comprised of Republicans from Clark County, Washoe County and the rural counties of Nevada, completed that task.

Every announced candidate was advised of the process and invited to participate. For the past few weeks, the Nominations Committee has been meeting with, evaluating and vetting candidates based upon policy, viability, party involvement and qualifications.  The Nominations Committee has completed evaluating the first set of candidates that requested endorsement, and recommends to the Central Committee the following candidates for endorsement:

•  Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV 2nd District)
•  Assemblyman John Hambrick (AD 2)
•  Assemblyman John Ellison (AD 33)
•  Assemblywoman Michele Fiore (AD 4)
•  Senator Barbara Cegavske (Candidate for Secretary of State)
•  Dan Schwartz (Candidate for State Treasurer)

Under this process, any Republican candidate may request the endorsement of the Nevada Republican Party.  A candidate must formally request endorsement to receive it.  To date, 36 candidates have requested endorsement and are in various stages of the process.

The Nominations Committee makes recommendations to the Central Committee. The Central Committee then votes on whether to endorse the candidates.  Within a single race, multiple endorsements may be given.  Thus, the pre-primary endorsement process will not necessarily express a preference within a given race.  Ultimately, as always, Republican primary voters will decide which candidates receive the nomination of the Nevada Republican Party.

The Nevada Republican Party thanks those candidates who have participated in the process thus far.  Candidates who have not yet requested endorsement may still do so.  Numerous requests for endorsement are still pending and additional recommendations to the Central Committee will be made in the coming days as they are processed.
