BJ3: Yep....From: DON HANK...This is just too stupid for words and it shows once again that science plays little part in regs of this kind. Of course some of us remember when air pollution killed people in coal-burning London and we can appreciate that burning solid fuels can be a major problem in populated areas.   But particulates do not contribute to CO2 emissions at all because soot and ash particles precipitate from the air. If you are in a cabin in the woods miles from the nearest town, the worst thing a wood burner will do is make your house dustier (I know from experience. I have had 3 of them at different times).   The beneifts are numerous, but one of the best is that people with wood burners pick up old dead wood off the forest floor, helping to keep forest fires under control. Of coures, wood burners also help the poor heat their homes and in a small way, help make us more independent of OPEC, an economic benefit. In addition, when the electric grid fails, wood keeps going. That can be a life saver.   Legal limitations on agriculture hurt rural people enough, but this is outrageous. Worse, though, it is at best up to local and state governments to make such rules if at all. This is where the states had better make counter laws and fast! And sheriffs and local law enforcement need to be prepared to confront federal bullies.
