Health care workers under attack -- again!    Flu season is in full swing. And you know what that means. The flu shot police are out in force.    Dreonna Breton, a pregnant nurse, recently told her employer she wouldn't get a flu shot. She had already had three miscarriages and didn't want to risk another. Her decision was backed up by her obstetrician and primary care doctor. They both submitted letters on her behalf. And she offered to wear a face mask while on duty.     In return for all this, Dreonna was fired.
   A spokesman from her workplace told CNN that it's "unconscionable for a health care worker not to be immunized."    Unconscionable? No way. Not even close.    I'm sure this spokesman is just sticking to the script he's getting paid to parrot. So I doubt he's aware of the Cochrane Collaboration research that could not find a single study that proves the flu shot works.    There's also no proof that uninoculated health care workers pass along infections to patients.
   But there IS evidence that the shot for one type of flu can make you MORE likely to come down with another type of flu.    Flu shots are designed to fight off three or four flu strains. But in two different trials, the shots reduced natural resistance to other strains.    In one of the studies, Canadian researchers proved that people who were given the general flu vaccine were at higher risk of developing the H1N1 flu a few months later.     Meanwhile, you don't hear much about it, but the flu shot does prompt adverse side effects. And the effects of these shots on unborn children is still unknown.   So looking at the evidence, who's "unconscionable"?    Want the true flu shot lowdown?
