Income Disparity in the United States The job of the government is to protect the people from the abuse of power by the corporations and banking institutions. It is not the role of government to redistribute the wealth of the people. The government should regulate the corporations, not the people. The government should help to create a level playing field where everyone has the equal opportunity pursue the fulfillment of their dreams. The government is doing just the opposite. Congress continues to pass legislation that benefit the few at the expense of the many. Instead of trying to create opportunities for all, the government grants special privileges and immunities to certain groups while denying them to others.
