Dear Conservatives,
What
has helped make the United States the largest oil and natural gas
producer in the world, supported 2.1 million jobs in 2012 and helped
reduce our carbon emissions to near 20-year lows?
Hydraulic fracturing.
Thanks to hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, our nation is seeing a surge in oil and natural gas production. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is considering federal regulations that could slow down this American energy resurgence.
The
federal Bureau of Land Management is proposing a set of regulations
that will duplicate existing state laws, creating a new layer of red
tape for America’s energy producers. States have a long history of
regulating hydraulic fracturing. Their rules are designed to reflect the
different geology and hydrology that exist in their areas. It
makes no sense for the federal government to impose a one-size-fits-all
regulation that does nothing but slow down America’s energy production.
A bipartisan group in Congress has proposed legislation that would stop these job-killing regulations. This
legislation would defer to existing state regulations for federal land
within that state, giving states greater flexibility to respond to local
conditions and local safety concerns. This is the best way to protect
the public, as well as ensure that American energy production continues
to create jobs.
Let your members of Congress know that you support this bipartisan energy legislation today! Sincerely, The Energy Citizens Team
