PROTECT WORKERS' RIGHTS! NO 'CARD CHECK'

Dear Conservatives,

United Autoworkers (UAW) union bosses claim to have signed "union authorization cards" from a majority of Volkswagen workers in Chattanooga, Tennessee, so why are they afraid of a secret-ballot unionization election?

"We'd probably lose," one UAW union boss recently admitted to the press.

That's hardly surprising to Right to Work supporters who have been following Big Labor's "card check" instant organizing tactics in recent years.

The card check scheme is inherently unreliable.

Workers often sign so-called "union authorization cards" due to union organizers' intimidating tactics or even outright lies about what signing a card means.

That's exactly what's happened in Chattanooga -- and could soon spread throughout the region. In my latest op-ed in Human Events I discuss UAW union bosses' scheme to bring Detroit-style unionization to Right to Work states.

You see, Volkswagen workers report that union bosses lied to them by claiming that a signature on the card would only be used to call for a secret-ballot unionization election
.

Other workers have stated that UAW union organizers offered bribes to workers to sign cards, including free tickets to an amusement park.

Last month, with free legal aid from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys, a group of eight Volkswagen employees filed unfair labor practice charges challenging the UAW union hierarchy's coercion and misrepresentation.

And now, also with free legal aid from Foundation staff attorneys, four workers have filed unfair labor practice charges against Volkswagen for pro-unionization coercion.

While Volkswagen workers continue circulating a petition -- already signed by at least a third of the workforce -- opposing the UAW takeover of their workplace, company and union officials keep meeting behind closed doors to reach some sort of "deal".

In past card check campaigns, UAW union bosses have traded away workers' wages and benefits to reach an agreement with company officials -- whatever it takes to gain monopoly power over workers and line union-boss pockets.

When management and union bosses collude at the expense of individual workers, those workers are seemingly left without defense
.

That's why I'm so grateful your support has enabled the Foundation to keep these workers informed of their rights and provide them with free legal aid.

Without your continued support, these workers would otherwise stand alone. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. The Foundation relies completely on voluntary contributions from its supporters to provide free legal aid.
