MUTH'S TRUTHS 10/01/2013

WELCOME TO RALSTON RETORTS!

Jon Ralston, Nevada’s #2 liberal blogger, never misses an opportunity to slam a conservative or ridicule a typo, grammar error or other mistake.

But quite often, his own “facts” are…well, wrong.  Plus his own blog posts (no Nevada newspaper runs his columns any longer) are littered with the same kinds of typos, grammar errors and other mistakes that he criticizes others for.

So on Sunday I decided to shine a light on Ralston’s partisanship and hypocrisy by creating a new website project for Citizen Outreach: RALSTON | Retorts.

The essence of the site is really quite simple...

When Ralston lies, tells half-truths, gets facts wrong, makes a grammar mistake, spells a word incorrectly, etc., we’ll point it out and call him on it.

And wait’ll you see all the foul-ups I posted just from yesterday alone!

Especially the one where Ralston “pulled a Hickey” and wrote about the “spadework” a black Republican candidate has been doing.  Absolutely unbelievable.  What a dick.

FIRST FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR

This month’s First Friday Happy Hour is this Friday, October 4 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Blue Martini in Town Square on the south end of the Strip in Las Vegas.

Our VIP guest-of-honor will be our 2014 Courage Under Fire award recipient, Amanda Collins.

If this courageous young woman’s name is unfamiliar to you, click here and read one of the many stories about her being sexually assaulted in a UNR campus garage and how she’s tried valiantly to change Nevada law so that her experience isn’t visited upon other unarmed college students in the future.

THE BILBRAY FILES

On Saturday Rhonda Foxx sent an email out on behalf of the Erin Bilbray-without-the-Kohn campaign which read as follows:

“I am sorry to bother you so much this week, but there's a reason: Monday is a major fundraising deadline. In fact, it's the most important of our campaign.  Erin asked me to give you our latest finance update.  As of 4PM, we're just $432.19 short of reaching our quarterly goal.”

Problem is, Foxx doesn’t say what the quarterly goal is.  Which is awfully convenient!  By not publicly setting the bar, whatever amount they raise can be conveniently construed as in excess of the goal since no one knows what the goal is.

Personally, I think that anything under $500,000 for such a well-connected Democrat running in one of the Top Five most competitive seats in the entire country would have to be seen as an epic fail.

KIRNER TAX

Hoo-wee!  Is Assemblyman Randy Kirner steamed over me referring to his Kirner Tax as the Kirner Tax.

The Reno RINO huffed and puffed and crayoned a lame-o letter-to-the-editor which was published on Saturday by the Nevada Appeal where my column on the Kirner Tax explaining why the Kirner Tax is called the Kirner Tax appeared a week ago.

If you missed it, go to www.KirnerTax.com

Here’s part of Kirner’s fine whine without the cheese…

“Honestly, when a legislator is representing his constituency by calling for a quintessential American democratic approach such as a vote of the people on taxes they would incur, how awkward to enter into name calling like ‘sheep-dip’ and ‘butt-covering’ unless there is another motive. As it turns out, there is. You see, I have an opponent in the Primary and he is supporting her. The more he attempts to discredit me, the more he advances his personal agenda, pure and simple.”

What a load of sheep-dip (uh-oh).  The voters of Washoe County already voted on a similar tax hike recently and rejected it resoundingly.  The people did not ask for this new Kirner Tax hike; school bureaucrats did.  The Kirner Tax is before the county commissioners and *might* go to a vote of the people because that’s what Kirner, not “the people,” wanted.

Oh, and I’m not “supporting” Kirner’s primary opponent, Lisa Krasner, who also opposes the Kirner Tax.  I’m supporting ANY conservative who will oppose Kirner and his Kirner Tax.  My “personal agenda” is to elect more conservatives who won’t raise taxes and grow government the way Kirner has, especially with his Kirner Tax.

So look…if you decide to email Assemblyman Kirner to explain to him why you don’t support the Kirner Tax and why he should stop pimping for the Kirner Tax, PLEASE, WHATEVER YOU DO, don’t use the words “sheep-dip” or “butt-covering” – even though his arguments in favor of the Kirner Tax are full of sheep-dip and he’s now trying to cover his political butt.

Again please, if I give you Assemblyman Kirner’s email address, you gotta promise not to write him in opposition to the Kirner Tax.  And if you DO write him to oppose the Kirner Tax, please don’t call it the Kirner Tax or use the terms “sheep-dip” and “butt-covering.”

Promise?

OK, here’s his email address: randy.kirner@gmail.com

FREE MARKET SUGAR

The Washington Examiner published a new column I wrote on the issue of eliminating sugar subsidies worldwide.  You can read it here
