CLOSE AMERICA BUT PAY FOREIGN AID! OBAMA"S IDIOCY BARED

ALERT: U.S. Foreign Aid continues during Government Shutdown. Take Action! Tell Congress to start making cuts!

Conservative American, idiotcy

While our overgrown government continues to punish Americans by making a grand show out of the government shutdown -- barring veterans from visiting memorials, even throwing people out of their homes -- they are, at the same time, shipping our tax dollars all over the world in the name of "helping the poor" and humanitarianism.

That's right, during this "shutdown" our government is furnishing foreign governments with our money while so many are agonizing here at home.

It's true. The State Department confirmed that foreign aid programs for the world's poor will continue even as states are cutting local aid programs for America's poor for want of funds.

Welfare programs are a bad idea - but prioritizing foreigners first is unacceptable. It's time for this madness to end.

Fax U.S. Lawmakers and demand that they start cutting foreign aid commitments! The federal government's "global welfare programs" are unnecessary, unaffordable, and unwise - it's time to rein them in!

It's "business as usual" for Foreign Aid

"While government workers in the United States have been furloughed, aid workers continue to provide services to millions of people from Africa to South America," says a story at the New York Times.

The Times also notes that a "guidance memo" written by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) shows that "top managers would continue as many [foreign aid] operations as possible" during the shutdown.

Numerous reports confirm this.

In his article, Conservative Action Alerts contributor Kyle Ebersole writes:

"Despite all of the clamor coming from politicians about the end-of-the-world scenario called the "government shutdown" - the State Department confirmed that there's enough money lying around for foreign aid to continue as usual.

State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said, 'we're able to sustain our [USAID] operations on a limited basis, the vast majority of normal functions and operations will continue.'"

Further, a report written by the international development network Devex calls the shutdown with a "study in contradiction":

"While the government shutdown dominated headlines, most aid officials went to work as usual - a far cry from the dramatic scenes industry veterans may remember from a snowy winter 18 years ago, the last time the U.S. federal government ground to a halt."

The report goes on to say that USAID and the State Department "pledged to continue business as usual in Washington, D.C. and missions around the world for the foreseeable future, operating on residual funds ..."

We need to mobilize right now and express our outrage over the government's prioritization of foreign aid over fiscal responsibility and the American people.

The Government is Not a Charity

Washington's numerous and expensive foreign aid programs need to be seriously challenged by the American People, especially conservatives.

Foreign aid was begun by Big Government progressives early last century under President Woodrow Wilson and is completely out-of-step with any kind of conservatism - constitutional, fiscal, or moral.

Here are the simple facts: Constitutionally, the government is given no power to ship the People's money to foreign governments; fiscally, the nation is broke and simply can't afford providing foreign aid; morally, welfare almost always hurts the very people they are aimed to help.

President Washington told us to steer clear of "foreign entanglements" and we ought to apply this maxim to foreign aid.

The fact is, the government is not a charitable organization.

Think about it: What is charitable about the federal government taking money from the tax-paying middle-class only to send it to wealthy foreign governments and military commanders? There is nothing charitable about it!

As conservatives who generally oppose government-provided domestic welfare here at home, we must demand lawmakers to start cutting foreign welfare abroad.
