THE LATEST NEWS ON SYRIA

A German Foreign Policy.com reports that the German government, in response to the UK Parliement's 'no' vote, is no longer weighing military options against Assad.
http://www.german-foreign-policy.com/de/fulltext/58677 (sorry, it is all in German. I found nothing in English on this breaking development)
The article says that general public rejection of hawkish David Cameron's desire to commit UK forces is what changed minds in Berlin. I think we need to credit the Brits in part with Obama's decision to ask Congress for permission to do what he initially wanted to do without constitutional authority.
But we also need to thank assorted bloggers and reporters like the brave AP reporter Dale Gavlak and the equally brave UN observer Carla da Ponte, both of whom reported that the Syrian rebels had chemical weapons, dampening the claims that Assad is the sole possessor of such weapons and detracting from the official story that his forces released the deadly gas that killed over 1000 last week.
We will never know to what extent the contributions of these people helped avert a dangerous conflict between the Western terror sponsoring nations on the one hand and the Russia-China-Iran axis on the other.

But it is not over yet. Keep working and praying. Call your Congressman.
French President François Hollande wants so badly to help his fellow leftist in the White House but 64% of the French people polled are against French participation in a military strike. Hollande will await the results of a debate in the Assemblé nationale. France is the wild card. Here is the source of that information (in French. No EN sources found).

Report that rebels caused gas deaths closer to being confirmed (Examiner now carries story)

I had forwarded this report yesterday with the proviso that it was not completely confirmed. I had gone to Gavlak's site and found no mention of this. And although Gavlak works for AP, they had also not mentioned it.
But 2 new items bring this close enough to confirmation that I am satisfied the report actually stems from Gavlak:
1--I have been following the Examiner for years and have yet to find a false report there. I have come to trust them to the extent that is possible in today's world.
2--I have not seen the Gavlan report debunked by Snopes or Urban Legends, although I did a thorough search of these sites
3--The report keeps cropping up on sites of all gradations of the spectrum, from radical left (which has an interest in supporting Obama's story) to libertarian, to right wing sites. This is rather amazing in itself. Since the report has been going viral for at least 2 days, then if Dale Gavlan had known about it and had known it was false, she would have certainly have spoken up by now.
So the chances are excellent that, although her report has not hit the Big Media yet, this credentialed reporter Dale Gavlak really did issue it.

Leftwing sites carrying the story:
Democratic Underground
Dailykos
Libertarian
Daily Paul
Infowars
Financial site, right of center
Zerohedge (usually reliable)
Christian, right of center
Mintpress (broke the story. Gavlak, while also working for AP, is on their staff!)
and dozens more, some of which were unfamiliar to me. (Not surprising, in view of this widely disseminated story, that one poll showed only 11% of Americans supporting military intervention against Assad).
Examiner story:
I am going to call this one confirmed.
And now, Messrs. Obama, McCain, Kerry and the rest of the officials behind the planned attack on President Bashir Assad in retaliation for supposedly releasing this gas: This now verified report showing that the rebels that you support accidentally released the gas in question is about to smack you right in the face. Are you prepared to answer for this after you have attacked a sovereign head of state who is innocent of the charges?
More to help readers make up their mind abouts whether your country should attack the Assad government:
Assad's interview with Izvestia (excellent responses by Assad. I read it in both English and Russian. Both versions are there):
Syrian rebels ransack Christian village (Obama and McCain support these Christian killers wholeheartedly and want to spend your tax money to sponsor and protect them):
