MICHIGAN - UNIONS LOSE COURT APPEAL! ABOUT TIME!!!

Dear Conservatives,

After a hard-fought battle, Michigan became the 24th state to pass Right to Work protections for workers last December -- and union bosses have been on a warpath to dismantle it ever since.

On Thursday, the Michigan Court of Appeals upheld the law from a spurious legal assault by union lawyers, relying on National Right to Work Foundation-won U.S. Supreme Court precedents
.

Union lawyers are considering an appeal, and Big Labor still has other bogus challenges pending in federal court.

In April, Foundation staff attorneys filed a motion to intervene on behalf of four Michigan workers in a Big Labor-backed federal lawsuit seeking to overturn the Right to Work law.

But Big Labor isn't just trying to dismantle the duly-enacted Right to Work law in court.

Before the protections took effect in March, union bosses schemed to keep as many workers in forced-dues ranks as long as they can.

Foundation staff attorneys are providing free legal aid to a Michigan security guard who, along with two other security guards, filed unfair labor practice charges against the United Protective Workers of America (UPWA) Local 1 union hierarchy and AlliedBarton Security Services, the guards' employer.

Just before the Right to Work law went into effect, UPWA union bosses and the company entered into a new monopoly bargaining agreement the illegally requires AlliedBarton security guards working at Ford Motor Company facilities in Dearborn to join the UPWA union and pay full union dues as a condition of employment.

The scheme also discriminates against independent-minded workers by explicitly denying them job promotions.

UPWA union bosses refuse to follow federal financial disclosure requirements to inform workers how their union dues and fees are spent.

An NLRB hearing is scheduled in Detroit next month.

The Foundation is committed to protecting and enforcing these laws in court. As decades of Foundation litigation demonstrate, without us the laws are just words on a page.

But we wouldn't be able to do it without the generous support of concerned citizens like you.

And now, through August 28, your tax-deductible contribution to the National Right to Work Foundation will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. The Foundation relies completely on voluntary contributions from its supporters to provide free legal aid.

Please chip in with a tax-deductible contribution of $10 or more today to support the Foundation's programs.
