   At his press conference last Friday, President Obama said that when Congress won't agree to what he wants, he will act alone. That statement, which he has made before, should send shivers through freedom-loving Americans.  The president was asked where he gets the authority to delay the Affordable Care Act's employer mandate, even though the law states that the mandate "shall" go into effect Jan. 1, 2014. The Obama administration announced the delay on July 3, without seeking Congress' help in changing the law.
   In response, Obama said that "in a normal political environment, it would have been easier for me to simply call up the speaker and say, 'You know what, this is a tweak that doesn't go to the essence of the law ... so let's make a technical change to the law.' That would be the normal thing that I would prefer to do."  LINK
Court Stops Los Angeles Police From Breaking Law and Protecting Illegal Aliens   by Stephen Frank on 08/12/2013  
   In so many ways the Los Angeles Police are lawless, refusing to obey laws, investigations galore by Federal agency and complaints that could fell a forest.  The worse of the bunch is the Chief of Police demanding cops in the streets ignore criminals from foreign countries—illegal aliens.  He has been allowing illegal aliens without a driver’s license to drive, though the law says the cars must be impounded.  If citizens did this we lose our cars—illegal aliens are a protected class—until today.
“The Los Angeles Police Protective League had filed suit last year to overturn the policy.
Superior Court Judge Terry Green said the city is pre-empted by the state vehicle code that spells out when cars are to be removed and for how long. Attorneys for the city had argued Special Order 7 provides guidance to officers on how to enforce the state vehicle code and was not designed to replace it.”  LINK
