The Senate "Gang of Eight" is rushing a disastrous amnesty bill they hope to make the law of the land by this summer. It was clear from the start that this bill was heavy on amnesty, light on enforcement. But, when given the chance to improve their bill, the Gang proved that they are all talk and no action.
Just take a look at some of the amendments FAIR helped push in the Senate Judiciary committee:
• | Require the Southern border be under "effective control" before amnesty applications can be processed. VOTED DOWN. |
• | Affirm that state and local law enforcement can assist in the enforcement of federal immigration law (like Arizona). VOTED DOWN. |
• | Require all businesses to ensure that all new hires are legally able to work in the U.S. within 18 months. VOTED DOWN. |
• | Affirm that state and local law enforcement can assist in the enforcement of federal immigration law (like Arizona). VOTED DOWN. |
Time after time FAIR's allies in the Senate offered amendments to strengthen border security, enhance enforcement efforts and improve the bill. Time after time these efforts were VOTED DOWN.
As the president of FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, I'm hoping you'll join us in the FAIR Fight against this costly and destructive amnesty. FAIR's well-known record of fighting for immigration policies that serve America's interests give us the clout to make the difference in today's fight against amnesty.
Will you help us put a stop to this bill that would legalize millions of illegal aliens before a finger is lifted to prevent more from coming? Will you stand with FAIR to protect the integrity of our immigration system? Your support is crucial to help us continue this critical fight to prevent a devastating amnesty -- far worse than any in American history.
Sincerely,
Dan Stein, President
