1. CBO’s Unicorn Cost Study on Amnesty
Repealing Obamacare will increase the deficit by $109 billion over 10 years.
That was a headline from a CBO report in May when Republicans voted on full repeal of Obamacare. Somehow, when it comes to ascertaining the costs of wrongheaded policy, CBO wants us to engage in willing suspension of disbelief. The most costly entitlement will actually reduce the deficit, they claim. In Washington, up is down and down is up.
We are now seeing the same thing with the amnesty/immigration deform bill. You need not be an actuary to understand that 11 million poor illegals and tens of millions of other poor legal immigrants and guest workers, along with their American-born children, will wind up receiving a lot more in benefits that they pay in taxes. Yet, CBO will have you believe that this bill will actually reduce the deficit over 10 and 20 years by $197 billion and $700 billion respectively. 2. Oppose A Feel-Good Intervention In Syria
It is a funny thing about American foreign policy. The Democrats are the peacenik party until they have an opportunity to send American soldiers off to die for no reason other than to make them feel good about their higher morality. This scenario is playing out again in Washington as the Democrat foreign policy elites begin beating the drums for a US intervention in Syria. We can expect the call to get stronger with the move of Samantha Power, an ardent believer in the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine who once advocated sending in US military forces to protect the Palestinians from Israel, to the position of National Security Advisor.
The situation in Syria would present a huge challenge to even a competent Administration. Needless to say, the Obama Administration, which now dredging up the talent equivalent of a tee-ball team to fill positions in what promises to be a disastrous second term, is out of its depth. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Open Borders Politicians Responsible for More Illegal Immigration
The real issue with the immigration debate is not a question of what to do with those illegals already here; it is a question of what to do with the next wave.,.and the next wave….and the next wave.
While everyone is focused on the past – what to do with those already here – and the future – whether the promises of more enforcement will ever materialize – nobody is focusing on the present. In anticipation of a mass amnesty and perennial suspension of deportations, migrants from Central America are rushing to cross our borders. Yes, these people all follow social media. 4. The beauty queen view of modern America
Who knew that a beauty pageant could be brimming with so much socio-political insight? The Miss USA pageant on Sunday gave us not one, but two, remarkable observations on the state of the Union.
First, here’s Miss Alabama, Mary Margaret McCord, offering her thoughts on the surveillance state: “I think the society that we live in today, it’s sad that if we go to the movies, or to the airport, or even to the mall that we have to worry about our safety… so I would rather someone track my telephone messages, and feel safe wherever I go, than feel like they’re encroaching on my privacy.” . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

Colorado state Senator Angela Giron (D-Pueblo) says that democracy in our republic is racist. 6. A Note on Bridging the Gap Between Conservative Theory and Practice

Though we Conservatives are deeply persuaded that our society is ailing, and know that Conservatism holds the key to national salvation–and feel sure the country agrees with us–we seem unable to demonstrate the practical relevance of Conservative principles to the needs of the day.
