OBAMA AND CONGRESS LIE TO LOWER COLA FOR SENIORS!

Dear Conservatives,

This year, seniors like you are receiving the lowest Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) paid in the last decade. And if the politicians have their way, your Social Security checks will keep getting smaller and smaller!
Like you, I believe the Social Security COLA that seniors receive should fairly and honestly reflect the increase in your actual cost-of-living expenses. But instead, politicians and bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. want to substitute the so-called "chained COLA" which would cut your benefit calculation and result in smaller checks than you earned and deserve. We need your help to push back harder than ever against the move to a "chained COLA" calculation.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation have even boosted previous estimates and now say that switching to the chained consumer price index (C-CPI) will cut your Social Security and other federal retirement benefits by $198 billion over the next 10 years.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) and other advocacy groups are fighting hard to stop this from going into effect. We know the real impact to seniors. In one of our recent polls, 89% of seniors who receive Social Security say that expenses are rising substantially faster than today's inflation adjustments.
Make no mistake – the "chained COLA" is a cut that will compound over time resulting in smaller and smaller Social Security payments. To view how this change could impact you, we've created a calculator that illustrates your payments under a "chained COLA" method. You can enter your monthly payment and the calculator will display your loss of payments.
Sincerely,

Larry Hyland
Board Chairman
P.S. TSCL's priority is to stop the government's plan for a "chained" COLA and to make sure you get a consistently fair COLA – and we are throwing everything we can into this fight. Please make a secure donation online today to help TSCL right away before it's too late.
