NO MORE LYING TO CONGRESS

WHERE IS CONGRESS' TEETH?
by Lee S Gliddon Jr

For years the US Congress Congress has conducted hearings as America watched. Those hearings were all but dreaded by anyone sitting across from Congressional members posing questions of them.

Not any more!

Congress held one hearing on the 'Fast and Furious' operation with AG Eric Holder as their official to be questioned.  In that hearing Holder lied! "I heard of this operation 2 or 3 weeks ago," was Holder's answer when asked when he first learned of Operation Fast and Furious.

In a later hearing Holder claims to have, "misspoke," in lieu of admitting that he lied.

We all know that the House of Representatives later passed a action to hold the AG a one, "In Contempt," of Congress.

I ask, What did that accomplish? NOTHING!

Now we see Congress looking into and holding hearings on the Attack on Benghazi, the IRS debacle, the AP/FOX News intrusions and hear lie upon lie, total losses of memories, lame excuses and infuriating responses.

There are NO RAMIFICATIONS for lying, NO RAMIFICATIONS for criminal intrusions, and NO RAMIFICATIONS for appearing before Congress and talking to them as if they mean absolutely nothing and certainly not to be feared!

IRS officials have learned that Congress can be lied to with no punishments forthcoming.

So emboldened have Government employees become as they have no fear of being admonished (maybe verbally at the hearing) or suffer demotion or termination and the lies and stonewalling continue.

"I cannot be fired," appears to be the common thought of any appearing before Congress. Factually those that do appear stand a better chance of promotion and a higher paycheck than any type of demotion!

Congress has no teeth and that is being outwardly promoted by the Liberal Democrats who are parts of the Hearing Boards themselves!

This must be changed. There must be an end to the allowed perjury and lies must be seen as reasons for punishing those speaking them. "I misspoke," cannot be accepted as a n excuse for lying! "I visited the White House 157 times...an Easter Egg rolling," must not be accepted!

Congress must grow some fortitude as well as some teeth!
