I hate to be the bearer of bad news - especially on a Monday - but something big has happened. And you need to know about it.
Last week, while our attention was diverted to the Boston Marathon bombing manhunt, the U.S. House of Representatives snuck in and struck a blow to civil liberties.
They passed new legislation called the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, or CISPA, and it has substantial implications for online freedom.
In fact, CISPA dismantles the entire idea of internet privacy. Every part of your digital life - from your email to your online shopping history - is now fair game for the FBI, the CIA and the Department of Defense.
Not even George Orwell could imagine something quite thisintrusive...

Who Really Calls the Shots in Our Government?

Congress has proven once again that it's a special interest world - the rest of us are just living in it.
Yesterday, the Senate voted against tighter restrictions on guns and gun owners, effectively ending the push that began in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting.
But the real story here isn't the vote - it's the NRA. You see, the NRA spends millions of dollars lobbying and giving contributions to members of the U.S. Senate. The Senate vote on gun control proves just how effective the NRA's strategy really is.
And I want to talk about this strategy because it provides an excellent view into how Capitol Hill really works. Folks are always telling me they don't understand why this or that happened on Capitol Hill. Well, it's time to shed some light on it.
