MESSAGE: Vote NO on AB230 Explicit Sex Education

Nevada’s schools already have sex education programs that have been designed by local parents and communities to meet the needs of their county.  This bill essentially removes the authority of local school sex education committees to design the curriculum and instead mandates the teaching of so called “comprehensive” or explicit sex education which includes the promotion of homosexuality, contraception and abortion.

It relegates abstinence to an afterthought.  It opens the door for Planned Parenthood advocates to teach in the schools which is currently not allowed. It takes away parental protection by making it an “opt out” instead of “opt in” program. It provides for access to counseling, medical and legal assistance without parental knowledge or consent.
