RedState Briefing 03/21/2012

Morning Briefing
For March 21, 2013

1.  The Republicans Who Want to Raise Your Taxes
Remember 66 Canal Center Plaza?

In November of last year I documented how much of the Romney Campaign’s third party operations were run out of 66 Canal Center Plaza.

Suite 555 of Canal Center Plaza houses Black Rock Group, Crossroads Media, WWP Strategies, TargetPoint Consulting, and Americans for Job Security.

A number of these groups either directly helped the Romney campaign or worked with the outside groups who helped the Romney campaign. The New York Times produced an awesome graphic of the incestuous ties in Suite 555.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

2.  Mitch McConnell Votes to Fund Obamacare
Hey, remember that awesome CPAC speech by Mitch McConnell?

The one where Mitch McConnell said — and I quote — “Obamacare should be repealed root and branch. And we’re not backing down from this fight.”

And the same speech where Mitch McConnell also said, “This law is a disaster, and anybody who thinks we’ve moved beyond it is dead wrong.”

Well, as I told you, Mitch McConnell excels at saying one thing and doing another. Yesterday, Mitch McConnell voted to fund Obamacare.

Hey Utah, he joined Orrin Hatch in doing so. Remember, just last year on the campaign trail Orrin Hatch told you all how he was going to absolutely fight to rid us of Obamacare at all costs. And he got a large portion of the conservative movement to cheer him on as a result.

Yeah, that Orrin Hatch voted to fund Obamacare too.

And now for the punchline — the majority of the Republicans in the Senate voted against funding Obamacare. McConnell and Hatch were in the minority of Republicans who chose to side with the Democrats and fund Obamacare.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  Using Dead Bodies For Political Points
Obama starts the year by demagoguing Newtown and gun crime to an insane length. You have ‘they deserve a vote.’ You have all the talk about the need to get serious about guns. All of that.

Then next, you have all the quiet talk about how the President doesn’t really need an assault weapons ban in the gun bill. You have mouthpiece of the Democratic National Committee Greg Sargent saying 20 times a day that the assault weapons ban is not the President’s priority; it’s the background check. That’s his priority. That’s what he cares about.

Then yesterday, Harry Reid basically comes out and says the Assault Weapons Ban is dead, and that – by the way – Dianne Feinstein might be embarrassed if she offers it as an amendment, because it will get fewer than 40 votes. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  March for Marriage on March 26, 2013
The National Organization for Marriage is organizing a march on Washington, DC on March 26, 2013 in support of marriage — actual marriage, not what the left is advocating for. They need your help too. You can give a contribution to support the March for Marriage by going here.

If you are wondering why suddenly you are hearing so much in the media about gay marriage, it’s because the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on the issue on March 26th.

Thanks to John Roberts’ and Anthony Kennedy’s behavior these last few years, the left is convinced that those two are highly persuadable in the court of public opinion. Consequently, they’ll show all the polls that show popular support. They’ll produce fabulous mythological research showing how normal and wonderful and non-corrupting to society long term it is, and they’ll attack anyone and any research that suggests otherwise.

You have to admire their savagery and skill in the public relations arena.

In any event, March 26th will be a day for the history books and I encourage you to be a part of it. And if you can’t be there, consider helping others be there. RedState is proud to help defend marriage from the armies of Mordor and hope you will too. . . . please click here for the rest of the post
