URGENT: Conservative Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) RE-INTRODUCED last week the "Citizens Protection Act" to repeal the 1990 law (deemed unconstitutional only to be re-written and passed in 1996) that made our schools 'defense free' kill zones where only madmen can arm themselves.
The 112th Congress ended without doing anything to protect our children – the 113th MUST PROTECT OUR CHILDREN, THEIR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS from gun control laws that DO NOT WORK!
The Second Amendment WORKS!

Rep. Massie when he re-introduced the "Citizens Protection Act" bill:
"Gun free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals."
"A bigger federal government can't solve this problem," Massie concluded. "Weapons bans and gun free zones are unconstitutional. They do not and cannot prevent criminals or the mentally ill from committing acts of violence. But they often prevent victims of such violence from protecting themselves."
The lethally ineffective 1000-foot "gun free zone" surrounded our schools must be taken down immediately. The 1996 "Gun-Free School Zones Act" MUST BE REPEALED! The Supreme Court has not yet ruled on its constitutionality and we're hoping they never have to, because the safety of our children cannot wait.
Unlike private businesses that may establish their own gun rules at whim (to reflect state and federal laws) and which we may as a result choose or choose not to frequent, our children MUST attend public schools when home-schooling is not an option.
Right now, the "Citizens Protection Act," H.R. 133, is stuck in committee – and it will remain there unless WE FORCE CONGRESS TO HOLD A VOTE AND PASS THIS LIFE-SAVING LAW!
We HOPE that a grassroots demonstration that has sprung up on Facebook across virtually all 50 states for this weekend, Saturday Feb. 19 at high noon in most state capitols will help take this cause on! Called Guns Across America, the organizers' motto reads More Gun Control = More Crime!
These Second Amendment supporters have it exactly right. Criminals and lunatics hellbent on murder aren't abiding by the government's 'Gun-Free Zone' signs advertising that guns aren't allowed on school property (and hence there is NO concealed armed protection on campus) they are exploiting it! And even if the gun control mob on Capitol Hill FORCES unconstitutional confiscation and new bans/restrictions on legal gun ownership, the psychos won't care! Meanwhile, more of us and our families will be left DEFENSELESS while the criminals are ILLEGALLY ARMED with ILLEGAL WEAPONS!
The Leftwing's war on guns is not only stupid 'feel good' nonsense, it is DANGEROUS!
On July 21, 2011, U.S. Representative Ron Paul introduced H.R. 133 to repeal the federal Gun Free School Zones Act in order to protect our children. The last major action taken on this bill was in August 2011 when it was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary – and there it has been sitting ever since.
Now is the time to pass this bill, the Citizens Protection Act, before more innocent children become the helpless victims of an evil, cold-blooded killer, who could have been stopped by one legally armed teacher or administrator able to use their Second Amendment rights to keep their students safe!
The Left's loud cries for gun control are growing more strident and extreme by the moment, feeding on their own frenzy for the inaugural re-crowning of Barack Obama and fervently hoping his first accomplishment of his second term will be gun confiscation and gun control unmatched in American history. If they succeed, it will be the death knell of liberty, and because WE DID NOT FIGHT WITH EVERY FIBER OF OUR BEING FOR FREEDOM. They seek to force disarmament upon this nation whatever it takes, whether it's 23 Oval Office edicts or classic Capitol Hill capitulation – and we and the Constitution will prevail only if we match their resolve!
We must thoroughly answer the gun control fanatics who are shamelessly exploiting this tragedy to advance their political agenda. As the gun control and disarmament lobby grows louder, standing on the graves of innocent children and educators killed at the hands of a lunatic, and posing repulsively with schoolchildren as political props and pawns, common sense Americans have an obligation to respond, to rebut the fantastical nonsense of gun control with FACTS.
This we must do, to ensure that Congress does not panic and surrender our Second Amendment rights at an emotional time, and foolishly compromise away the one principle – the God-given right of self defense – thatcan protect our innocent children from such deranged evil as attacked them last month.
The facts are straightforward: gun control fails the innocent. It makes victims where there need be none. Gun control is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
That's right. Existing laws gun control advocates claimed would prevent such massacres from happening are already on the books… AND FAILED!
"Gun free zones" created under the stringent gun control laws we foolishly have already passed make places like schools MORE vulnerable to attack by deranged killers seeking fame in a dramatic, high-publicity crime – not LESS.
America always allowed permit-concealed handguns in schools prior to the ironically named Safe School Zones Act or Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990 (GFSZA). Before the passage of this disastrous bill, there was not a single school mass killing recorded – not one. Most major shootings now occur in so-called Gun Free Zones. Since this 1990 gun ban, more school shootings have occurred than in all the years leading up to the ban; this includes previous years when machine guns were sold at Sears and children were allowed to own guns without federal restrictions.
We changed the laws, and started having public school mass shootings. Clearly, the predator killers seek their victims in legally mandated "gun free zones" because these homicidal maniacs KNOW they can target schools and they will not be met with armed resistance – they can rely on gaining notoriety (fame) with a high death toll.
These deranged killers deliberately seek out places where victims by law can't defend themselves. If security personnel, administrators and teachers are again able to have permit-concealed handguns, it WILL dissuade these attacks from occurring.
Of course, should a school or other facility with innocent and vulnerable young people become a target, by far the safest course of action is for them to have armed protectors on site.
As crime and gun use expert John Lott has observed, "The amount of time that elapses between when the attack starts and when someone can get to the scene with a gun is very important in determining what the carnage is going to be. The faster you can get somebody [there], the more you can limit it. If you could get the police there in 8 minutes, which would be record time, that still would be an eon for people who are there helplessly having to face the killer by themselves with no protection."
Lott, an author and college professor told Newsmax magazine thatgun free zones have become "a magnet" for lunatic killers who hope to burn their names into the history books by running up a big body count before turning their gun on themselves.
He believes there is a "very good chance" the Connecticut school shooting could have been averted, if teachers there were permitted to carry concealed handguns. Lott's landmark book "More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws" is in its 3rd edition, and is a landmark resource on gun and crime data.
It is a fact – the "gun control" that advocates promised would prevent crime and violence actually facilitated this massacre… and with MORE gun control will come MORE mayhem!
As Gun Owners of America wrote last year:
"No one – including politicians, the police, or the individual citizen – can predict where the next deranged serial killer will attack. And yet politicians continue to create 'criminal safe zones' such as schools, churches, parks, restaurants that serve alcohol, etc., where the law-abiding are disarmed.
The net impact of turning schools, in particular, into defenseless targets for serial killers has been dramatic.
When many people over the age of 40 were growing up, ROTC students would march up-and-down high school campuses with their semi-automatic M1's – and no one would think anything of it. Shooting clubs on school grounds were also not uncommon.
But within a couple a years of the enactment of the Kohl amendment, two disaffected teenagers walked into Columbine High School secure in the knowledge that they would be the only ones in the school who were armed.
And, of course, Columbine triggered a slew of copycat episodes – laying a mounting string of innocent casualties at the feet of Herb Kohl and his misbegotten legislation."
Now in Connecticut in a horrific attack, more innocents have been slaughtered – and their murders could have been prevented, if not for the Gun Free School Zones Act.
The original GFSZA legislation was ruled unconstitutional, but Congress simply evaded the Supreme Court with minor changes to this clearly lethal law's wording, and implemented it. Americans need their Second Amendment rights restored; they need to be re-armed and if that did not deter this insanity, they once again would be able to STOP a crazed assassindead in his tracks.
The "Citizens Protection Act" now has been RE-INTRODUCED – WE MUST COMPEL CONGRESS to vote on it NOW, before any more innocent American lives are lost!
Along with the completely counter-productive federal Gun Free School Zones Act, the state of Connecticut has strict gun-control laws in place, among the strictest in the nation. The shooter broke at least three that we know of at this early point in the investigation.
According to reports, Adam Lanza, 20, STOLE his mother Nancy Lanza's legal firearms, MURDERED her – allegedly shooting her in the head four times while she was sleeping – before driving to the elementary school where he murdered 20 children, six adults and then killed himself leaving hundreds of rounds of ammunition behind when he heard the sirens of armed police on the way.
He didn't legally enter the school either – he broke into the school through a window to get around its locked door and intercom security system.
MURDER. THEFT. BREAKING AND ENTERING.
Lanza wasn't a legal gun owner. The Glock pistol, Sig Sauer pistol and Bushmaster rifle he carried to the massacre belonged to his mother. No one knows whether his mother kept her guns locked away in a safe from her disturbed son. As reported by WND, at the least in mere weapons possession Lanza broke the following gun control statutes:
First, Connecticut law requires a person be over 21 to possess a handgun. Lanza was 20.
Second, Connecticut requires a permit to carry a pistol on one's person, a permit Lanza did not have.
Third, it is unlawful in Connecticut to possess a firearm on public or private elementary or secondary school property, a statute Lanza clearly ignored.
Fourth, with details on the Bushmaster rifle still sketchy, it's possible Lanza may have violated a Connecticut law banning possession of "assault weapons."
Barack Obama, of course, is already onboard with ALL means of gun control – from outright confiscation to Feinstein's proposed "assault weapons" grab to taxing affordability of exercising the Second Amendment into oblivion.
Obama's 23 Executive Actions, which many have too carelessly dismissed as trivial and mere political theater, are in fact much more strategic. Most stealthily advance the dangerous development of an integrated federal database of gun ownership; tracking of private weapons sales, trades and transactions; detailing of level of marksmanship training and competency; and reporting of medical history ALL of which being routinely compelled to the Feds are gross violations of our Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure, due process and our right to privacy – never mind our guarantee under the Second Amendment to have our right to arms uninfringed!
Obama has been advocating for a renewed ban on semiautomatics for months. His administration publicly took up efforts to support the U.N. Gun Treaty within hours of his re-election – and now he has seized full bore on this tragic opportunity for to unleash a domestic assault upon our Second Amendment rights as responsible, lawful gun owners.
The exploitation of drama and pathos has been appalling. "We have been through this too many times," Obama said in his address to the victims' families. "We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."
Decoded, Obama is saying that for progressives and the gun-control lobby, this is all about politics and using it to their advantage. Never mind what will really save lives, like rescinding the perverse Gun Free School Zones Act that draws killers to our schools like a magnet.
If passed, H.R. 133 WILL give our students and their teachers a fighting chance instead of delivering their lives into the hands of evil.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who leads the anti-gun group Mayors Against Illegal Guns, is a disarmament fanatic stridently lobbying the White House and Congress. He is also surrounded 24/7 by ARMED by guards while the man he lobbies, Barack Obama, just signed legislation to be surrounded by ARMED security for LIFE!Former White House Chief of Staff and current Chicago – Murder Capitol of the World – Mayor Rahm Emanuel is calling for a nationwide "assault weapons" ban. Zealots in his state have introduced an outright gun ban that would make illegal 75% of rifles and 50% of handguns. This despite the fact his Chicago already has the toughest gun control laws in the nation but the most gun violence because now only the criminals have firearms, and guess what – the criminals don't care if a weapon is legally banned or not.
Something must be done to prevent the murder of innocents by a madman but gun control, as being pushed by Obama and his faction, is NOT the solution. Truth must temper emotion before our Representatives use their 'feelings' to justify crushing our Second Amendment! Grant Duwe, a criminologist with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, has some telling data. He observes that extensive media coverage leaves the impression that mass killings are on the rise. But in fact, killing sprees rose between the 1960s and the 1990s, and dropped in the 2000s as private, law-abiding gun ownership has INCREASED. They peaked in 1929, and the largest murder of school children in the United States was carried out in 1927 by a lunatic armed with EXPLOSIVES – not a gun or even multiple guns.
Gun free zones KILL. When a shooter went on a rampage in December at an Oregon mall, it was a LEGALLY armed bystander who cut the lunatic's death-spree short sparing countless lives before first responders arrived. We should emulate Israel: when Palestinian terrorists started attacking Israeli classrooms abroad, ARMED volunteers sacrificed their time to sit in the classrooms and keep watch; the attacks stopped.
Right now, in Great Britain where guns are ILLEGAL, the British government is seeking a ban on "pointed" KITCHEN KNIVES because – despite the ban on private gun ownership – crime is on the rise and kitchen knives are the new weapon of choice! Our own FBI released statistics showing more people are murdered each year with clubs and hammers than with guns, yet it's our guns our liberal elected officials are moving THIS MONTH to confiscate!
Our Founding Fathers knew that we needed our firearms for the right of self-defense, to be protected from threats! This includes personal self defense, protection against a tyrannical government, and to defend against aggression from our neighbors, those who might abuse authority, and dangers from abroad. That fundamental need to arm for self defense remains the same for all time.
Congress MUST rescind the GFSZA of 1990 and 1996, and reject the Feinstein-Obama gun grab that will disarm law-abiding America. Unless and until they do, countless other innocent victims, including defenseless children, are made more vulnerable.
The Citizen Protection Act, H.R. 133 would repeal the federal Gun Free School Zones Act. The bill is bottled up in the House Judiciary Committee, and needs to be passed by both chambers NOW! As Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) can bring H.R. 133 for a vote.
We need to demand this bill pass the House, and then compel the Senate to act in the nation's common good – and also pass it to be signed into law.
We MUST act today before WE THE PEOPLE are rendered helpless, and our republic surrendered to tyranny – right along with our guns. We are fighting for YOU, for the Constitution, and our Right to Keep and Bear Arms!
